SD card info

Post by amt94 » Wed Aug 18, 2021 9:11 am

Hello, I have been using the Phillips dream station for 2 years, until the recall, I went online and bought a used (brand new) air sense 10, the thing is I am going to a new sleep clinic, and when they check the SD card, wouldn’t it come up with the lady’s information that I bought it off of? I was hoping to avoid telling them I bought it used even though the lady used it once and couldn’t get used to it, (I also replaced all the equipment, hose, mask, filters, etc.)
So I’m not sure if I should buy a new card and build up my data and destroy this one. Any thoughts?

You can erase any past user data from the machine itself.
You can also simply erase any past user data from the SD card.
Erase the machine before putting the newly erase SD card back in the machine. A brand new card won't help if the machine isn't erased.
There is a setting in the clinical menu to erase prior data.
It's in the same menu area as the clock and calendar.
See the manual for explanation

Ok thanks. So you don’t think they’ll refuse to help me if it’s under someone else’s name originally?

They won't know whose name it was under originally.
That information is only available to the original DME who dispensed the machine to the first owner.
They shouldn't care either. You procured a slightly used machine to replace a recalled machine.
The new sleep clinic shouldn't care one whit where you got it.

BTW....if you erase prior data...the new clinic won't ever see it anyway...they really have no way to know the machine was used by someone else unless you tell them.

Access the card for what? Erasing it? Or using available software?

Erasing the card...??
Some people erase SD cards by reformatting it...way too much work for me.
I just pop the SD card in my computer and navigate to the drive letter where the SD card is located..click on it to open it up...then I manually highlight each file/folder I see and right click mouse and choose delete.

Now any data that is yours on the SD card will go away but if it's just a night or 2 ....who cares.

Pugsy,

You are actually doing too much work, doing it your way, to erase the data on a card.

If you Right-Click on the SD Card itself (it shows up as a folder on a Windows machine), you then just choose (left-click) the "Format" button (make sure the QUICK format button is selected...and Fat32 is selected) and then Start...you should be good to go!

It will take no more than 5-10 seconds...with no time consuming deletion of folders required!

Below are some example screen shots I took of an SD card I needed to format...

I don't manually delete each folder or sub folder separately...I kill them all with one click.

You know with my "vast" computer experience (which actually used to be fairly comprehensive)...there are some things I have never done and reformat something is one of them.
Old habits die hard for this old woman and I can manually clean out a SD card in less than 5 seconds as well.

I actually don't mind doing it the old fashioned way.

BUT....I do have one SD card that has a file/folder on it that I can't delete it my way. Just haven't got around to trying reformat on it because it's not hurting a thing and I just renamed it "can't be removed" so I would no not to mess with it.
It's an old Respironics SD card I got with some machine way back when...
The only time I ever really need to use it is when I need entire SD card contents on the card so I can use Encore Pro...because there is no way to tell Encore to look anywhere except on a SD card.
