Standard vs Dishwasher Safe Water Chamber

I have an AirSense 10 AutoSet with Humidair Heated Humidifier and it came with the Standard water chamber. The Standard water chamber to me is not well constructed since it has flimsy hinges and one of tabs on one side broke off. Has anyone compared the Dishwasher Safe water chamber ($33) to the Standard water chamber ($18) for build quality?

I wouldn't want to use in a dishwasher anyway but would pay the extra money if the Dishwater Safe was better constructed... otherwise I'll just buy the Standard one again.

I am on my 3rd Resmed machine and have always used the standard chamber that came with the machine......they have lasted the life of the machine. I am now 2 years into my Airsense 10 and have never had a problem with the tub. I rarely wash it, but it has water in it 24/7.

What do you call it when you keep doing the same thing, (That you don't like the results of) expecting the outcome of doing it to correct the thing you don't like. I would think the Dishwasher Safe one would stronger built, but what would I know, I don't make my living selling cheap stuff for the most profit the market will put up with. Jim

Thanks well maybe it was a fluke thing mine broke then after 5 months... I empty it out every morning and refill for bedtime and then wash in dish soap once a week. The hinge broke when I opened it one morning to empty out the water... the tab just broke off.

Thanks well maybe it was a fluke thing mine broke then after 5 months... I empty it out every morning and refill for bedtime and then wash in dish soap once a week. The hinge broke when I opened it one morning to empty out the water... the tab just broke off.

No, not a fluke.

Like LSAT, I rarely wash mine. I open and dump water nightly.

You wash yours weekly, I wash mine maybe monthly. Everytime you remove the lid you're bending the tabs and putting a stress on them. In 5 months, you've removed and reconnected them approximately 44 time, me 10 times. You've put stress on the tabs 4.5 times more than I and had 4.5 times the opportunity to break them.

So not a fluke, but expected.

I have had both the dishwasher safe and regular tanks and notice no difference in built quality.

If you're using distilled water (and you should be), that's a waste of time and money. PERIOD!
