Hello everyone,
I just got off the phone with resmed customer service who has no clue why I would have a 125 W cord with my new airsense 10 (with the newer humidifier chamber). My old airsense 10 has a 90 w cord. Little did I know when i went camping and tried to plug the clips on to my rv battery..and nothing worked...at all... Up half the night trying to make it work until i noticed the cord for the new airsense has a 125w tag and my husband's older airsense 10 has a tag on the reg wall plug that says 90W. So the resmed cords I bought a few years ago to hook up to an RV battery when cammping will no longer work. It was awful and we had to come home from camping...so when i look for a new 125 watt cord with a cig lighter on it and then the additional cord with the red and black clips to hiook on to my battery..none of them say 125 w. Is there a work around? Husband is just getting a new airsense too and we assume it will also not work with our old set up. GRRRRRRRRRRR. The person on the phone acted like i was nuts. I know someone here will know though.
Thank you so much
Angela

Pardon my dumbness, but I'm and electrician and all a higher wattage cord would indicate to me would be that its made of larger wire and able to carry a heavier load. I don't understand how a higher wattage cord would prevent you from hooking it up to an RV battery, what am I missing? Something aint adding up!

Ditto to what he said.
The higher voltage cord does not USE all that power.
It is just designed to carry more without melting.
Cords are conductors--which is all they do.

? I am really DUMB about this stuff. The old cord looks like the photo below..a.nd i got that kind in order to bypass an inverter to save battery life....these worked GREAT for years with a marine/rv battery. Suddenly they do not work with the brand new airsense 10. Cord still works with old airsense so I know it is not the cord i guess. i guess i can camp with the old airsense.
THe only difference in them that is noticable is the new shaped water chamber? It is really odd.

I just thought that was the reason it would not work anymore? Since the cord still works with the old one. Maybe it is a little different plug on the end where it goes into the machine. I guess I will have to look. This stuff makes me nuts. hahaha

Well if all else fails why not just use your old cord? I highly doubt the plug on the end would be a different size if both are Airsense 10's.

Hi,
the old DC hook up to the battery cord does not work with my new airsense. It looks like the same size plug. I am lost. Both of the machines actually say 90W on the regular 110 plug so that isn't it you guys are so right.
I have two airsense machines...one 5 yrs old and one new.
New one won't run on battery when dry camping with the old resmed cord dc converter cord. I do not yet have a new Resmed converter because I cannot find a new one that is any different from the old onei have that won't work.
The plug in looks the same on the back of the machine.
I do not know why it is diferent but the only obvious difference is the that the cord on the brand spankin new airsense says 125W with a big sticker hanging on it and 7V i think and the old cord doesn't say that.

There have been no changes to the airsense 10/aircurve10 water chambers since the machines were introduced.

I don't know what I am talking about. The change is with the new water chamber (the plastic part) ithat has the metal part on the botton of the chamber is now round on the bottom, rather than square like my old one. I guess that is not any reason for a cord not to work.
I am stumped.

so, even if the new airsense 110 v wall plug cord has a sticker that says 125w/7A and the old DC converter box to use with an RV battery says 90W and 3.75A it should still work? Ugh. haha WHAT DID I JUST type?
I cannot understand this stuff.
It does not make sense to me.
It all worked fine for years until the new airsense 10 autoset machine showed up and then the camping cord duehickey no longer worked.
I think I will just give up and use my old airsense machine when camping even if it does not work as well.
Ugh.

Something isnt adding up, the power brick (to the best of my knowledge)is basically just a 110V AC to 12V DC transformer. I will have to verify that when I get off work but why would you even want to feed the transformer/power brick 12V DC battery power to begin with if it takes 110V ac? Seems it would just transform the 12V to some really low voltage that in my opinion I have know idea how it would be able to power the machine at all! My guess is that the cig lighter plug should be able to power the Airsense 12V DC all by it self without the need of the powerbrick (ie transformer) what so ever!!

I think that with each model change since the s8 re$med has changed the DC pinout configuration requiring a new cable. re$med wouldn't gouge the pockets of their loyal users now would they?

That makes the most cents.

What makes most sense to me is the OP is not correct about describing the the machines.
The old machine is likely an S9 (square humidifier tank) and the new machine an AirSense 10. This also explains why the DC-DC Adapter isn't interchangeable between the two.

Can you post a picture of this new machine so we can see what it looks like and the water chamber.

Airsense 10 runs on 24 Volts
What equipment says 12 volts?
Maybe a different machine?
