Switching Devices Due to Recall...OSCAR Issues

Post by gpurcell » Sun Jul 18, 2021 10:07 am

So...I'm doing a lot of travelling in the next few months and I decided to come onto the forums to see what people thought about the AirMini and JUST found out about the recall. Oh my.

I'm in a bit of an unusual situation. I've got a very old BiPAP System One 650P (purchased in 2011 but used since 2016 after this forum helped me learn how to adjust pressures). Settings are EPAP 9/IPAP 12. AHI is well controlled to an average 1.92 over the last six months.

As it turns out, I HAVE a ResMed Airsense 10 Autosense sitting in the closet. I was my (deceased) dad's and I put it away in case I needed it.

So...what do I need to do to clear out his data from it, reset it, and get the settings on it as close as possible to my old System One?

He did use the ozone cleaner thing and I used it a handful of times on my old System One.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Edit: Just sent the e-mail asking for a PDF of the clinicians manual and moved to OSCAR from Sleepyhead.

You've done the necessary preliminaries: clinician's handbook and upgrade to OSCAR. Just set up a new profile for yourself in Oscar.

Try setting your pressure at min = max = 12, with EPR of 3. This will give you a pressure of 12 when you inhale and 9 when you exhale.

See how this goes, and feel free to post a chart if you think you need to fine-tune.

As for So Clean, here's what I would do. In the short run, keep an eye out for little black particles and stop using the machine if you see any. As soon as you can, get a new machine.

Thanks--that was exactly my thinking.

I know Dad had some kind of cloud storage of his data; is that a requirement with these machines?

That would be MyAir, which would have been linked to your father.
Not terribly useful, compared to Oscar, or even Essentials in the report screen.
[[[And not "required".]]]
Essentials should be set to PLUS, done in the clinical menu.
(Scroll down about 3 pages in the clinical menu to find essentials.)

They don't have "cloud" storage in the sense that most of think of, ie google drive, one drive, dropbox....

But Air10 devices do upload some of our data to ResMed's servers for potential access by our medical practitioners, insurance compliance or our own use with MyAir.

Thanks--the important thing appears to be I can just turn it off.

Ok, in to the clinical menu. 9216 run hours so should have some life left in it.

I'll use it tonight and post a chart tomorrow. Thanks for the help folks!

Initially set it for a low pressure of 9 and a high pressure of 12 with an EPR of 3. The machine started at 9 and it felt too weak. So just set for a constant pressure of 12 with EPR 3 and it seems to have worked great! AHI of 0.27, just two events last night.

The one weird thing is that Sleepyhead will import my data but OSCAR only brings in 5 minutes of data, from when I was testing the mask just before and just after midnight--the actual sleep data isn't included.

Which version of OSCAR are you using?

Have you tried creating a new profile in OSCAR and importing to the new profile?

OSCAR 1.2.0+6d9f544a

Yes, I tried a brand new profile without historical data and it was the same:

I added the "OSCAR issues" to your subject line so we can get BlueDragon's attention and let him try to help sort out your issues.
I was hoping you were just using the old version and changing to 1.2 would fix the problem but in case you were already using 1.2 (which your are) you need more help than I can offer.

So now we wait for BlueDragon to drop by. It's beyond my skill levels....Sorry.

Now one thing to remember. The SD card MUST be in the machine all night when in use for you to get anything other than summary numbers.

What was this 5 minute segment/session suppose to accomplish? Did you turn the machine off and on during this time frame?

About an hour before I went to bed I was doing some test breathing to see how it felt for a bit and to tweak settings. That seems to have been logged as the sleep for last night in OSCAR--the machine itself and Sleepyhead both reported the 0.27 AHI properly.

I'm hopeful it will resolve itself tomorrow morning and just end up being a day of incorrect data.

There *was* a problem in previous versions of OSCAR where:
  • If you already imported a session it would not import a second session.
  • If you tried to import a session where the CPAP end time overlaps the computer time then the session failed to import. This can happen if the CPAP time is incorrect or because of time shifts.
The solution was to got to the days data and purge the selected day and re-import.

That could easily be it; the time on my Sleepyhead account was never correct and I could never figure out how to fix it.

Edit: Purged the data, rebuilt for the new machine and it worked perfectly!
