Hi DMW,
I have used this as my primary mask for a couple of months, it works but my
throat gets too dry to swallow in the morning even when my heated humidifier is on max! The Oracle mask got me to believe that I would get benefit from Cpap/Bipap. How long have you been using it? What issues if any are you having with it?

Love my Oracle!!Been using it since July. It's a lot lighter and requires no adjustment when I turn over unlike the full face mask I used previously. While I noticed most people HATE the Oracle I have recently met quite a few people(like myself) who use it without a problem. I find it to be a very comfortable;easy mask to use. Yes,my mouth dries out but it did too with my full face mask. PM me if you want more specific info. Barb

I used it for about a month and sadly had to give it up. The concept is excellent - minimal headgear, moves with you and direct-to-mouth pressure. However, I found a few problems that I never could overcome. 1) Nose leaks. The Oracle comes with nose plugs, but I found I had to wrap them in tissue to keep them from leaking; very poorly shaped IMO. 2) Drooling - having something in my mouth that much caused me to drool insane amounts. All that moisture around my lips often caused The Oracle to leak. 3) When I wasn't drooling all over my mouth was drying out terribly, even with a heated humidifier.
The Oracle is surprisingly comfortable to wear. The soft silicone interface sat nicely around my lips, once I got the right size. The headgear is a single strap and requires virtually no tension at all; its more like a safety strap.
I wish you luck with yours.

This mask is great, I would be compliant using it if I found a suitable solution for blocking up my nose to stop leaks, the nose plugs supplied are about as useful as a chocolate tea pot, sadly.
It is THE ONLY mask of many that I can tolerate for a long period of time, simply because it is so minimal!
If anyone has had a breakthrough with new ideas for nose plugs, I'm still all ears!

I agree-the nose plugs are terrible. The only way I found to make mine work-is putting them in and then actually taping them with a piece of plastic medical tape behind and in front of the plugs. works great;they stay put and no leaks

Oracle with ResMed
I just ordered the Oracle Oral interface - haven't even received it yet. I use the ResMed S8 Elite CPAP with heated humidifier. Can someone tell me which ResMed mask setting I should select on the S8 Elite, to give me the best interaction with the Oracle Oral? Thanks, in advance!

I have been looking to help a friend that has a snoring problem and this mask looks like a great candidate for him. Thanks for the feed back I will keep this one in mind and tell him to post his results if he ends up with this one.

Re: Oracle HC452 Oral CPAP Mask
I couldn't tolerate the sensation of my cheeks billowing out or the nose issues with the Oracle.
Re: Oracle HC452 Oral CPAP Mask
I've been using the Oracle mask for years now and wouldn't use anything else. I never could get any of the nasal ones to consistently seal and they all eventually rubbed my lip and cheeks until the were sore. With the Oracle there is nowhere near the same bulky headgear, you can sleep on your stomach without dislodging the mask and it seals tight as a drum.
Now, contrary to the typical; "it sucks 'cause it doesn't work for me" comments there are some things to get used to:
1. Incredible mouth, throat and sinus dryness. I've finally acclimated to that and my body seems to have compensated but at first this is a REAL issue. Sinus dryness can be treated with one of those sinus sprays (saline and aloe only), mouth and throat, keep a glass near the bed for when you wake up in the morning feeling like the Gobi desert.
2. Overpressure through the nose and noseplugs not working. Yep, this is a problem too. The documentation claims that some people eventually learn to keep the airway from the nose to the mouth closed...didn't work for me. The largest noseplugs will usually work, although every now and again I find in the middle of the night that either the plugs shrunk or my nostrils grew My eventual solution was to keep a pair of kayaking nose plugs in the drawer by the bed. Don't need them every night, but they are there when I do. Simply remove the internal noseplugs and clamp the external kayaking nose plugs on and go back to sleep.
3. One time I must have a bad dream or something but I bit down too hard on the mouthpiece and broke the plastic. The mask was older than 6 months so that may have contributed, and it has only happened once but it did surprise me. My current Oracle I've been using for over a year without problem, although I did buy a new tube to go from the mask to the long tube to the CPAP, the one that came with the mask started squeeking at the joint that rotates and kept me up.
So there you have it. Again, I'd never use a different mask due to the lightness and flexibility of the Oracle but YMMV
