Does events/hour = AHI?

Post by ghstudio » Sun Jul 11, 2021 6:15 am

Due to the respironics recall, I moved to an airsense 10 autoset (decided not to wait for the 11). My first night (last night) showed .1 events/hour .... my AHI on the respironics was always around 5. I understand they have different algorithms, but I wouldn't you expect the two to be relatively close? I have not linked to Resmed's system yet....and I unfortunately, I forgot to put the sdcard in the autosense so I could review in Oscar (card is installed, so I'll get data tomorrow). Does .1 event per hour mean my AHI is .1 ???

Yes, events per hour on the LCD screen sleep report is pretty much the AHI for that sleep session.

yup it's different, all right. and i'm sure lots of users are going to experience it as they bail on reperonics and go to resmed.

my experience is the opposite. lower numbers on resperonics. but i seem to be shaping up to be the exception on this.

also? that was just one night. see how it goes after a week. it might bump back up.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

To determine AHI add the total number of Apnea events, plus Hypopnea events and divide by the total number of minutes of actual sleep time, then multiplied by 60.

I was wondering the same. Luckily my mother in law had her old air sense 10 cpap since she got a new one so I can use until I fix or replace my dreamstation. I’d rather be safe than sorry. I’m a former smoker so anything that could be affecting my lungs I want to discontinue. Anyway I was surprised I can’t view my events in the app just AHI total.

The AirSense 10 CPAP model doesn't show anything but the generic AHI numbers. Doesn't break them down into event categories.
No detailed information available and if you were to use OSCAR all you would get is the summary numbers you see on the machine's LCD screen.

It's what I call a half assed brick....limited data only. Better than nothing though and if the AHI is nice and low and you are feeling decent and sleeping decent then it's a win.

Lol! Yeah it was 0.1 first night. I’ll see what the week brings but likely will stay low. Thanks!
