I've had the same experience as you, Zonker. My first 2 machines were Phillips System Ones and I had everything just right and very comfortable for the most part. I was ready to buy another Phillips since mine was wearing out and I had just come back to the forum to research machines when the recall hit, so I ended up going with Resmed this time. I am in the process of re-thinking my settings on the Resmed, to balance the lowest AHI I can get with comfort, since the Resmed blows me up like a balloon if I get the max pressure too high. Is it possible the Resmed algorithm is more aggressive? I think I have it adjusted to my most comfortable settings now. I think my pressure would go up higher than the max if it was set higher, but then I get the aerophagia, so I'm sticking where I am for now. I'm sleeping pretty well and my numbers are acceptable but I do show more events than the Phillips used to. Maybe the Resmed just logs more events that the Phillips missed?zonker wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 6:51 pmnow, here's the odd thing. and i think it once again highlights how individually we react to cpap.
my experience is just the opposite of what you have experienced. i'm actually getting higher ahi on the resmed than on the resperonics.
not terribly high, but high enough to make me wonder.
i'll be interested as we move on how other folks do with the switch.

While those videos were done with the last generation of both brands, the algorithms are pretty much the same, Resmed reacts to breathing issues where the Philips machine does nothing.

partly that. and partly what palerider says, that it's more responsive.ILoveFlowers wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 7:04 pmMaybe the Resmed just logs more events that the Phillips missed?
at least i'm at the stage where aerophagia isn't a problem, no matter which machine i use. i've even used a devilbiss, my first machine, with o aerophagia problems.
the devilbiss gives me yet another ahi conastruct.
i mean, in the end, i just want to sleep well and all that. i know i shouldn't worry too much about the numbers. and i don't.
still i can't help but wonder.

That is fascinating, it seems to describe exactly what's happening with me. The pressure goes up much more quickly and stays up a good part of the night. If it wasn't for the aerophagia problem, it would be great.palerider wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 7:19 pm

I remember when I first started cpap treatment I had aerophagia at first. I can't remember how long it took, but eventually got used to the pressure and it didn't happen anymore. I wonder if I can get used to more pressure from the Resmed?

The pressure *NEVER* goes up without a reason, and it never stays up without a reason, either snoring, flow limitations, hypopneas or obstructive apneas.ILoveFlowers wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 12:47 amThat is fascinating, it seems to describe exactly what's happening with me. Posting your own chart, in your own thread would help more.

Consider setting your response to Soft, if it is set to Standard.ILoveFlowers wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 7:04 pmI am in the process of re-thinking my settings on the Resmed, to balance the lowest AHI I can get with comfort, since the Resmed blows me up like a balloon if I get the max pressure too high.
