They came up with 8 cm because that's as high as they went and they didn't need to go higher for some reason or other.
So you weren't ever tested at higher levels because 8 cm brought things down to the criteria where they could stop increasing the pressure.

There's a certain set of protocols that have to be followed during these sleep studies.

8 cm worked that night...next night it might not have worked out so great.

Sleep studies don't give people nearly the answers to question that they might want answers to.
