Only use distilled water also.
That's not necessary. Any potable water will do. I understand the manufacturers' machine user guides in Europe don't mention distilled water.

Depending on the potable water, there may be a few mineral deposits in the humidifier tank. This can be easily cleaned out from time to time with a 30% solution of white household vinegar/70% water.
I understand that you have been here for several years and that you have a lot of comments, but you are not the prima donna that you think you are in your own mind. Why would any one disparage distilled water so they have to clean the mineral deposits with vinegar? You won't have to clean it if you use distilled water. I think you already know that. Out of some 60 + comment on this thread, most of yours are a continual biting my ankles. I wish you would stop. At least in this thread you are acting all anal about someone's English or religion or what ever. Whatever crawled up inside you and got you all twisted I can't determine, but you might want to change your CPAP pressures.

Sigh...you are doing a lot of biting of ankles yourself. Pot calling the kettle black IMHO. It's going to stop.

Did you even bother to find out if the OP in this thread had access to distilled water????? He's in Serbia for Christ's sake...in Europe none of the manuals for these machines even mention distilled water.
It's not the end of the world if someone doesn't have or doesn't choose to use distilled water. Heck, they may have tap water that doesn't have minerals in it and never need to use any vinegar. You don't want to use vinegar...fine and dandy...you don't have to but sometimes people have to make do with what life gives them. Tap water might result in vinegar or lemon juice cleaning once every month or so...big deal. 10 minutes of soaking will clean things right up.

We are a bit spoiled in the USA with access to cheap easy to find distilled water to help out the people who don't want to do a little extra work...but the rest of the world isn't so lucky. In Europe it's hard to find and very pricey when found.
I wouldn't be surprised that in Serbia it's rare and extremely pricey.

Common sense goes a long way.

This thread got way derailed....and it's going to stop now.

Get back on topic or risk further OT posts being removed....and here's a hint...the topic wasn't "using distilled or tap water"...you brought that in and did the original derailing.

Hey,

Of course we do have distilled water    It's an additional expense though... Our tap water is ok to drink, but it does have a lot of minerals in it, and they tend to stick on the surfaces if I said that well... And I don't use it for drinking because I had this lithoclast procedure ( Ureteroscopy) to help me pass a big kidney stone I had, so I stay away from high mineral water...

Actually I got the instructions from the seller lady to use only distilled water and after I clean water chamber with tap water to clean it with distilled water afterwards to prevent some water minerals sticking... I think she said that for the mask as well, but I'm not sure right now... She also mentioned 50-50 vinegar-water combination as well, but to be honest, I'm not sure I want to have a hint of vinegar smell while breathing .

Morgoth: you mentioned Devillbiss, which is an excellent, economical machine.
I have a Devillbiss Intellipap I Autopap for a DC powered emergency backup.

Yes, we have Devillbiss here, a friend of mine, the only guy I know here with Sleep Apnea, is using Devillbiss and he is happy. I bought Resmed Airsense 10 though, I'm super satisfied with it...

I hate the smell of vinegar and it always seems like it takes lots and lots of rinsing to get rid of it and that's why I mention lemon juice.
It will clean the minerals off as well and who doesn't like the smell of lemons.

So you do have some options if you ever get in a situation where you can't use distilled or bottled water.
I am on a well where I live and the water has a really high mineral content. I use distilled most of the time but if I forget to buy some and run out then I just use tap water.
Or it's winter and the roads are bad and I don't want to drive to town...
Or like last spring and all the Covid hoarding going on...you couldn't find any water anywhere at any price.

I have used both vinegar and lemon juice...they will both remove the minerals effectively if someone happens to be in a situation where they had to use tap water.
Using distilled is of course extremely convenient though and I am all about less work whenever I can get by with less.
I have always admitted to being a lazy sot.

Cool, nice to know that I can't damage the machine with tap water.

Thanks for your advice all of you guys !

Vinegar smell---lots of rinsing, or a late-night pickle--herring is my favorite.
Or use a splash of vodka--works pretty good, and the smell is agreeable--somewhat.

Unfortunately I don't drink alcohol at all , especially vodka, as every young man, I used to have alcohol poisoning by vodka when I was a teenager, lesson learned. 😂😂

Citric acid is used to decalcify espresso machines.

It's also odorless if you don't like lemons

Time, is something I don't have at all... So distilled water it is :D

So guys, these are my last two nights... I have to say I really enjoy sleeping with Resmed, and I love f30i, except that I still have a feeling that nostril holes are tiny, I mean they cover 1/3 of each of my nostril, I sniff in silicon a lot... I mean my nostril diameter is 1 inch, the holes on the mask are 0.4 inch. I'll try W cushion, it hopefully has larger nostril holes, but it may be too wide for my nose... As what I said, I love sleeping with the machine, I'm falling asleep way easier than with DS or without CPAP at all...

Anyway, these are my new charts, AHI seems managed, no snoring at all, I was snoring with Amara, but I still wake up like 3-4 times a night... I don't know, maybe it's an "impulse", because I was waking up last 20 years every night, I hope it'll get better eventually, but I'll most sure seek neurologist help and do the lab study, I know I'm still in the begging of my CPAP journey, but I don't feel particularly fresher than before with AHI - 40 and O2 - 70%, maybe it should take time to feel better... Maybe it's due of my sleeping in a very uncomfortable bed and in a very very noisy apartment watching at a big traffic crossroad with a lot of noise, car sirens etc, maybe that's what keeps waking me up low key, good news is I'll move in a new apartment in a quiet street and comfy bed in one month...

Judging by this respiratory rate, it seems to me that I always wake up while in REM or after REM, I mean I don't know a thing about sleeping patterns, but I do see I always wake up when this resp rate oscillations rise..

I still didn't turn on the humidifier because I'm lazy lol, and I don't feel my mouth particularly dry at the moment, but I will try with humidifier on...

Please, let me know how it looks.
