Trust issue

Post by EJ3 » Tue Jun 22, 2021 6:34 pm

The dream station 2 is a quick fix to replace the Gen 1 dream station
I have a huge trust issue with Philips over the now known recall and why they waited so long to initiate the recall
Been following the situation closely and every day it appears they are making plans up as they go
I’m switching to Resmed

"Quick Fix?"....There are about 3 million machines in the recall. Do you really think there are 3 million DS2 machines sitting around in warehouses?

I predict that this mess will not only be a huge drop in credibility for Respironics,
but for the entire cpap industry as a whole.
I also predict that those ultimately responsible will be shielded from justice.

I fear you are right on all of this.

I see it that way too. Also expect this to take several years to "resolve".

I've read the news releases and the recall notice but where does one go to follow the situation closely? If there's more information I'd like to know about it.

I'm still on the fence as to whether this is an over-reaction. What if it turns out the foam in most of our machines is just fine?

How do you know they waited long to initiate a recall?

He doesn't have a clue how long they knew. Suggesting that the DreamStation 2 is a quickfix to the foam issue is asinine.

The dream station 2 is now available and suddenly they initiate a recall on their Gen 1

The dream station 2 just so happens to have the same design aside from using a new sound dampening material

They were well aware of the hazards associated with the foam
This is why they changed it but kept quiet until the introduction of the DS2

So as suspected, you don't have a clue, just a whole bunch of speculation.

Maybe you would prefer they just issue a warning about Ozone and high temperatures voiding your warranty or causing problems so they wouldn't be culpable?

It is easy to presume they knew about the problem some time ago;
but waited until the new product rollout to announce the recall.
(Probably hoping no one would notice the sneaky sd card paywall encryption.)
