Getting a bipap from dme

Post by Kkinton1 » Thu May 27, 2021 5:12 am

I have a resmed airsense 10 and after a retritation study my Dr has now ordered a bipap instead. My question is, I want to actually request which bipap machine I get. I'm debating between asking my dme for a dream station bipap or resmed curve. Thoughts? My pressure is 16/12. Thanks.

Currently Philips has an announcement that most of their devices has a product defect. This list includes the DreamStation BiPAP.

I'm unsure if the DreamStation 2 has a BiPAP model yet, and if it does, it's not compatible with OSCAR yet.

Get the AirCurve 10 VAuto.

Specify the VAuto--more flexibility, should you need it.

And I love the wording in Philips' statement, essentially: 'What steps are you taking to address this issue?' 'We are taking steps to address this issue.'

Getting old doesn't make you 'forgetful'. Having too damn many things to remember makes you 'forgetful'.

In which direction????
"if the classroom were to catch on fire, what steps would you take?"

"long ones.".
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Ask your doctor to write the script for the particular make and model you want, and write" dispense as written". You may get some grumbling from the DME, but they should supply the machine you want if your doctor orders it.

from the Philips Statement...
The risks include that the foam may degrade under certain circumstances, influenced by factors including use of unapproved cleaning methods, such as ozone*, and certain environmental conditions involving high humidity and temperature.
In all fairness this forum is loaded with posts about how Resmed will void the warranty whenever an ozone cleaner is used on its products. Yet, there is no recall?

So if you are not using an ozone cleaner (and why would you?) I wouldn't worry about the recall.

Because as of yet, there is no consumer level product recall. All they're doing thus far is removing the affected products from sale.

I wasn't interested in taking the OPs original question off-topic, towards Ozone cleaning. But was interested in informing him about the potential lack of availability of Respironics BiPAP models, as that is directly pertinent to his question.
