Nose Distortion = Looking for Alternative to Opus 360
Nose Distortion = Looking for Alternative to Opus 360
I have been using an Opus 360 Nasal Pillow mask and headgear but notice that in order to get a good seal, the nasal pillow has to push into my nostrils enough to slightly distort my nose. Not to where it is usually uncomfortable during use, but enough that my nose has become slightly distorted over time. Slightly swollen, not as narrow. Is there a nasal mask that you really like which does not require so much pressure into your nostrils? Thank you.

Re: Nose Distortion = Looking for Alternative to Opus 360
Lots of newer masks out there.
The Opus wasn't new back 12 years ago when I first started therapy.
I use this one
https://bleepsleep.com/
and there's the ResMed AirFit P10
Respironics DreamWear nasal cushion and/or nasal pillow
ResMed AirFit N20 or N30 or P30i
Go shopping and see what's new and get some ideas.

Re: Nose Distortion = Looking for Alternative to Opus 360
Thanks very much for the suggestions. I bought the Opus 360 back in 2011 when I was diagnosed with central sleep apnea. It halted the alarming decline of my health caused by the apnea and for that I am grateful. But yes it is time to upgrade!
The Bleep system is very intriguing - Bugsy does it press into your nose at all when you change position?

There is nothing at all with the Bleep mask that goes even the least little bit inside the nostrils at all.

I, too, use the Bleep. I think it's great. I am side/stomach sleeper, so had trouble finding a mask that worked well for me (for that and other reasons), but the Bleep stays put and even with trying to bury my face in my pillow in my sleep, I have no issues with it. Good luck...I hope it works as well for you. If you have any problems that can't be resolved here, Stuart at Bleep is a wonderful resource, SO very helpful!

Not bad, first bleeping night in 18 bleeping years without bleeping headgear.

Re: Nose Distortion = Looking for Alternative to Opus 360
Do you know your machine pressure settings? I'm wondering if the distortion of your nose is due to the air pressure rather than the nasal pillow design. You might consider a more traditional nasal mask (e.g. Wisp or N20) that goes over your nose, so the air pressure is balanced on both the inside and outside of your nose. Also, that mask style wouldn't even touch your nostrils.
Re: Nose Distortion = Looking for Alternative to Opus 360
Hi JXG, thanks for the post. It is definitely the design, which requires that the nasal pillows be pushed into the nose for any kind of good seal, regardless of the pressure.JXG wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 11:43 amDo you know your machine pressure settings? I ordered several different style masks/headgear to try from cpap.com so hopefully I will find something that works well for me without distorting my nose..
