Wrote to Mick Farrell ResMed CEO

Post by alancalan » Mon May 17, 2021 5:38 pm

I got my auto vpap 9 at the end of 2013 I believe but it was July I don't remember. I really didn't want to upgrade to an auto curve 10 because it had already been out 5 years when I was ready so each year I waited and I waited and I waited. Perhaps Resmed has done great things, and I have been with them since my Sullivan BiPAP. I really like Mick Farrell but my S9 is falling apart. I did not want to get an auto curve 10 Because by the time I was ready for one, it was 5 years old. There could be more pulmonary type viruses hitting Us in the near future and I'm 73 and not getting something that is really more up-to-date that could help breathing better preventing pneumonia it's something it should be worth waiting for but resume doesn't give us any indication about what's going on. Have they reached their top, as far as they can go and Technology? Maybe the algorithms are working great and I have to tell you I ate right numbers have never been better than they are now between the S9 and maybe even more than you masks. Now using the P30. But I would like something that would be more quickly adaptable to pneumonia type situations and possibly one that can go longer on batteries and make large batteries units more affordable for everyone.

Wow, i didn't see this ridiculousness...

You want a *consumer* machine that is "more quickly adaptable" to "You should be in the hospital" conditions?

Crazy.

Maybe ResMed plans to do with their CPAP machines what Microsoft did with their Windows OS: one ever-evolving system, slowly morphing into the "next thing", at their convenience, and with no user input. Even the numbers match: "Windows 10 - the last ever Windows"; "AirCurve 10 CPAP - the last ever ResMed CPAP"! :D

Every manufacturer updates their products as needed to generate cash flow.
Sometimes it is cosmetic--sometimes not.
Do not expect them to tell you which way it is THIS time.

I always buy new tech when it comes out, but if I needed one I wouldn't hesitate to buy an Aircurve 10. They are phenomenal machines.

I'm using my second Autoset for her.
The first was more than satisfactory; but after 5 years, she was getting tired.
I do wish the screen had a brightness control, as the dim is too damn dim.
Minor problem--turn on table lamp, then screen

There's a way to dim the screen on ResMeds? It's not too bad when I start my CPAP session, but occasionally my unit gets unplugged and DAMN that screen is so bright when it's powering on. Can that screen be dimmed too?

The screen has two levels--high, when the room is well-lighted;
and barely on when the room lights are out.
Tip: the light sensor is a small oval above the control dial.
A bit of duck tape over it will make it always very dim.
The sensor will respond to black light if you want the screen bright without lighting the whole room.

LOL, getting Mick to respond to a customer would be like pulling teeth. It's not like he's Stuart at Bleep, who responds to any and everything.

Of course.
You, the patient, are not the "real" customer.
The DME (dealer) is.
If you want more than they wish to give you, then you are a mere PITA.
Most here have known this for years, but we do not lie down and take it quietly.
We share information where we can, including machine and mask reviews.
If it affects their bottom line, then we have succeeded.

Hmmm. I don't think that applies to the start up screen when you first plug in the CPAP, because usually when I have to do that it's in a dark room and the screen lights up super bright. My cord has a habit of coming loose from the brick.
