Hit the magic number

Post by HD4Mark » Mon Apr 19, 2021 5:15 am

After 6 months of therapy I hit the magic number.

With the usual struggle to find a mask I liked I settled for Bleep and Dreamwear nasal gel depending on how the Bleep had been sealing at the time. Last night was the Dreamwear.

Do I get a prize or something?

Unfortunately a good bit of the night your leaks were so bad that it is possible that you had some events and the machine simply couldn't sense them because of the large leak.

But for a little over 50% of the night....you do get bragging rights.

I have noticed that normally the higher the leak rate, the higher my AHI is. It has been a struggle to find a combination that won't leak and won't keep waking me up. My AHI has been under 1 for a few weeks now though.

The Bleep has been my favorite but even with extra tape and alcohol prep I get leaks. Not giving up though. Guess I will contact Stuart and see what he thinks.

Under 1 AHI is a good goal - keep in mind that when leaks are too high you can get an unrealisticly low AHI because the cpap simply cannot sense any events.

feels good, don't it?

a side note to newbies-while we don't chase zero, we do celebrate it when it comes!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Nice to see the occasional zero, isn't it! About the leaks: are you sure it's the Bleep adhesive that is loosening, and not mouth leaks?

I tape my mouth with Hypafix tape that Stuart suggested so I don't believe so. I have been awakened by a stream of air blowing out not only past the ports tape but the additional tape I apply. Tried witch hazel and alcohol prep also. Much more tape and I will look like the mummy.

I try to not worry about the numbers but like to keep track so seeing a zero is kind of cool.
