My cpap Resmed AirSense10 was hacked and turned off several times last night.
No it wasn't.

Be aware hackers can find modems and turn off your machine in the middle of the night. Probably just a teenager thinking they are having fun, but still it messed up my night and my blood pressure. So be careful.
No they can't, while you may imagine that your machine is just hanging out there on the internet, waving a big flag that says "HACK ME", it's not, it's not connected to your wifi, it's not connected to your internet.

I don't care about them seeing the data... I just don't really like the idea of my settings being able to be changed...
Just keep an eye on your data.

This thread is wild. I posted it and gave my reason and some folks just went off the deep end. Can't hear, Can't read or don't want to.

To be more clear I think
Oh, you're *QUITE* clear, you're just *WRONG*.
If what you *think* was correct, we'd have heard many, nay thousands of reports of the same thing happening over the many years that these machines have been reporting, and been capable of being remotely set (but not turned on or off).

but I use mine all night ever night for about 35 years.
Do you somehow think this makes you an authority?

I think keeping these things in a pressure range is stupid.
You're welcome to your 'opinion' no matter how wrong it may be.

Exactly. It is a CELLULAR modem, and only calls out to a preselected location when it has data to send (that's WHY data is only available after a certain time every data, it's on a schedule). It is NOT a full blown cellphone, that anyone can call up and use to hack your machine.

It's astoundingly frustrating and sad to see so many people writing off data mining in 2021 as just another crazy conspiracy theory. I'm not one for conspiracies either and I'm probably quick to dismiss them too, so I want to be sympathetic, but it's clear that some of you need a reality check.

Sure, concerns of having your cpap hacked and manipulated are kind of wild, but having your sleep behavior and all the associated meta data sent to some company is just the way the world works. It's really not something that's up for debate; it's really just a question of whether or not you're okay with that. Why attack somebody who doesn't want to pay for the privilege of allowing a company to profit off their behavior?

I don't like this at all. I haven't received my machine yet, so hopefully Resmed has provided an easier way to disable it. Some of the functionality is useful, but you should have a choice. I did authorize some access, however, I declined that the info could be stored on US or European servers. We shall see what happens (all of this, including purchase was online during Covid). I particularly object to US servers because the privacy laws in the US are so weak and subject to gross misuse. Afterall, the FBI and the multitude of spy agencies in the US spy on their own citizens regularly, imagine how little they care about foreigners.

The only ResMed provided solution is to turn on airplane mode.

If using this method, use caution to ensure that all data is wiped before turning it on, as upon turning it back on past summary and compliance data will be uploaded. I'm unsure how far back.

The data is anonymized, and can be used by your medical team , if they know your machine ID, it is also used by ResMed for future research, development and improvement of their algorithms and apnea treatment.

Judging by the conditions on the southern border...... never mind.

Get Respironics instead. I was able to remove the modem board before powering it on and w/o taking a screw out. It slides right out after lifting a cover.

That might be a bad move. Based on many comments here, I switched to ResMed from Respironics. ResMed seems to have a considerably better algorithm. The machines are also better quality. YMMV

I certainly understand the flame throwers here - it appears what Pnh was asking for is not possible with a Resmed. It would Pnh's choice whether or not to choose a brand that will provide the option they are looking for.

If you actually read his post, you will see he has already purchased a ResMed machine.
