Mittens for CPAP

Post by ecmacman12 » Fri Mar 26, 2021 11:40 am

Hello,

I have removed my mask at night unconsciously for a couple of years now, on and off.

I have read that some people wear mittens to bed to combat this.

For anyone that does this, can you please send me a link to the mittens you use? I'm hoping to get some that aren't too warm. I have already tried socks and gloves, but it hasn't helped.

I'd also be interested in any other strategies you have used that helps with this – taping sounds painful, but I guess I could try it.

My mask is comfortable and I've been through a few masks, so I don't think changing the mask would help.

Thanks in advance!

Tape the straps to your cheeks. When you pull off the mask you will wake up.

If possible, get a couple strands of hair under the tape.

CPAP mask anti-removal gloves.jpg
Much cooler than CGranny's and will wake you up when removing mask.
Guaranteed.

DS, you have outdone yourself!

To the OP: I wish I could help with a suggestion about mittens. I can chip in one other alternative, which is to put on a cap over your headgear with ties that go under your chin.

And bear with me here: if you google "medieval night cap" and click on the shopping filter, you'll see a lot of cotton or linen caps with ties. I think people use them for costuming at Renaissance fairs.

IIRC James Bond was partial to mink gloves in bed. Said they reduce the tension.

Haha, lots of ideas to work with! May start with the tape option
