So wait, Everything is NORMAL?

Post by CWM84 » Fri Feb 26, 2021 12:50 pm

Hi ya'll,
I was reading the forum searching for the topic not dreaming and came across this that @pugsy replied to someome:
People seem to think that just because they don't remember dreaming that they aren't....that's not true.

Remembering dreams is actually a bad thing...it means our sleep is being disrupted enough to cause us to wake up and form a memory of the dream.
We don't remember a dream unless we wake up during it or immediately after it.

And we can dream in any sleep stage...it isn't limited to REM stage sleep though that is where we will have more dreams.

So the lack of remembering dreams doesn't mean they didn't happen.
So if I understand this correctly, everything is NORMAL for me?

I have not dreamed the last 2 nights. What I mean by not dreamed is I feel like I am just laying there but I really am asleep though.

So in reality, I really am dreaming I am just not seeing it is what I am trying to say.

But last week, I was off of my anti depressant and I could tell you what I dreamed about that night. So thats a bad thing?

I * GUESS* that I am sleeping because I roll over during the middle of the night and my legs are sore from laying in the same position for awhile.

Also, I am fine during the day, No daytime sleepyness I am awake from 8:30ish AM until 11 PM that night and by that time I am ready for bed and I am ready to go.

Thanks,
Chris

EDIT.. I tried to install Oscar but for some reason on installation in Ubuntu after putting in my password it said that I didnt have admin rights to install the app ( OSCAR is the only app thats ever told me that I have since installed stuff on my computer)

Get a card reader/adapter and use one of your USB ports.

And yes...not remembering dreaming is actually a good thing.

Yes...bad thing but not unusual to have some fragmented sleep when coming off any kind of medication especially anti depressants.

Now bear in mind that it's normal to wake up after a REM cycle and it's entirely possible that you wake up long enough to form a memory of the wake up and any dream that might have been happening at the time you woke up. So remembering an occasional dream isn't necessarily something horrible.

But not remembering dreaming isn't necessarily horrible either because we can dream and not remember it and we can dream in any sleep stage and dreams aren't limited to REM.
Not remembering a dream doesn't mean it didn't happen. Just means we didn't wake up during a dream.

Maybe you are right. I am dreaming but I just feel like I am laying there all night long.

There are some nights I might wake up once or twice to look at the clock and go back to right back to sleep.

I guess if I wasn't going into REM sleep I would be tired during the day right? Which is not the case for me. I am wide awake all day long.
