How do I restore Encore Pro database backup?

Post by strobotach » Fri Jan 05, 2007 1:14 am

I've got the EncorePro.bak database files, but do not know how to restore one.

I've searched the site, but can not find any info.

The Encore Pro help does not even mention backup!

Thanks for your help...

Have you tried renaming the backup files?

Now, I've got a simple question for you, How do you get EncorePro to back up its database files. It's probably obvious, but I haven't been able to find the backup option.

I got ONE binary file called EncorePro.bak per backup.
What do you suggest I do with it? Rename it to what? Put it in which directory?
It looks like there are multiple directories and db files hanging under the SQL server Encore directory....
I need some database guidance please...

How backups are created:
I use a registry cleaner that accidentally rips something needed from the registry for Encore Pro. So, I install Encore Pro over the existing installation. Everything starts working again, and in the process, Encore Pro installation program backs up the database and sticks it in a date named directory under "my documents"/Encore Pro.... with a filename EncorePro.bak

The EncorePro.bak are big files, (30 - 50 megs each) so I assume they contain the database.

The problem still remains: What do I do to restore them?
Thanks!

you can simply re-install EncorePro and it will prompt with the option to use the old database or create a new one.

The database is stored seperately from EncorePro, should be in:

c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$ENCOREPRO if you used default installation settings.

The EncorePro data is stored in a Microsoft SQL database.

Export patient first

Just a suggestion:

Next time you remove the file that generates reports via the reg cleaner and have to re-install Encore Pro, export the patient record first!

Then after re-installing if you can select import patient record highlight from Encore patient file and your data will be there.

I haven't found a way to merge two databases....

Good Z's to ya....
