People clean the hose??

I guess so. Some people are worried about the least little thing and some aren't. I guess we fall into the later category.
Our experience probably doesn't matter to the former category. I shrug my shoulders and say "whatever dude" and move on.
It's their equipment and their time so I guess they can do (or not do) whatever they want.

It’s been almost a year since I started using my CPAP equipment. At this time I consider myself a professional cleaning expert, especially on the P10 mask and hose!
Been using CPAP for ten years. Still at the rank amateur cleaning level. No problems so far.

People clean the hose??
professionals. apparently.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Wrong. The area behind the chamber has two plastic ports. The one towards the back of the unit contains moisture from the chamber. It is dark regardless of your light switch. It needs to be cleaned if you care about cleanliness at all. The seals on the plastic tubes (also behind the chamber) are in a dark and damp area as well. They can be cleaned with a wipe.
Well, it's clear you just came to argue with people that know more than you do... so have fun.

Nope. Wrong again. Haven’t argued with anyone other than you.

I’ve been watching this form since well before I started using my machine. This site helped me come to the conclusion that I needed to see a doctor about my severe sleep issues. I came here seeking guidance from a community that I trust and respect. I politely asked a simple question about cleaning my machine because it’s an area of concern to me. It’s something that’s been bugging me for a while and I knew of no better place to present the question.

Thankfully I received the answer to my question and I truly appreciate those who were helpful. LSAT, PUGSY, Berks, and others contributed meaningful feedback and support in a helpful and respectful way.

You on the other hand have contributed nothing other than condescending and unproductive remarks since the beginning. So, I just figured that’s they way you prefer to communicate and therefore joined in with you. Obviously you’re here to berate rather than assist and encourage those who seek guidance. That’s fine, if it makes you feel better. You’re life.

As far as the cleaning goes, everything I’ve read says that it’s vital to keep CPAP equipment clean to prevent sickness. I’ve probably gone overboard with the details, but only because I desperately need and want to have a good experience with my therapy. My “professional cleaner” comment was meant to be a bit of a joke but it’s kinda true actually. I’ve probably watched every YouTube video out there about cleaning and have tried to incorporate best tips from them all in my routine.

Many of us still consider cleaning obsession as a mental disorder.
There is reasonably clean--and then there is OCD.
Obsessives annoy almost everybody.
---To the point that it is fun to annoy them back, even when we realize it is unkind.
I like to remind those people that our eyelashes are inhabited by microscopic bugs.

Yeah, eyelash mites--yummy, but not very satisfying.
The best part is that they exist, and they creep out the squeamish.

Or so you think . . .
FACT: They are usually harmless, but if they become too numerous, they itch . . .

Since this thread has gone totally off track and the original question has been asked and answered and there's no real urgent need to continue the "discussion" about cleaning anything....

All this talk about eyelashes made me remember something rather gross and you can laugh or get grossed out...depending on your own personal funny meter.
Many years ago I had the chance to see someone with crab eggs attached to eyelashes....yes..pubic crab eggs. We knew which kind because we did find a live crab to look at under the microscope.
This was a woman...while we were picking off the eggs she happened to ask "how did they get there?".... I didn't have the heart to tell her that she probably got them while performing oral sex on her boyfriend/husband.

I made up some lame excuse that sort of might give an explanation and all the while the doctor was nearly peeing his pants trying to suppress his laughter while picking off the eggs.

We did tell her that she should tell her partner that he needed to get checked out as well.
