Seeking new mask

Post by susandono » Fri Jan 22, 2021 11:52 am

Hello, I am a new Cpap user (3 months) and having difficulty keeping my mask stable so air does not escape. I have tried 3 masks and so far the one I like best is the Dreamwear nasal pillow cushion. Cannot wear the regular nasal mask because there are too many straps that give me headaches and make me grind my teeth. Also have an Airfit N30i but wondering if a mask that has the hose going from the nose rather than the top of the head might keep it more stable. Was looking at the Swift FX nasal pillow mask for this reason but question whether the pillows that rest inside the nostrils would stay put as I turn from side to side. Would appreciate any advice for nasal pillow masks with hoses that might attach to the nose. Or your thoughts. Love following your comments and could use the help of experienced experts! Thank you.

The Bleep system works wonderfully well for some of us. There are no straps at all on your head or face, making it very comfortable. There are lots of posts about it on this forum which you can check out.

If you like the DreamWear, there is a new pillows cushion for it that you could try.

Pillows are generally a bit more stable than the under-the-nose nasal cushions. The Swift FX is ok, but the DreamWear headgear with Arms is probably more stable since the Swift FX is an older style where the back strap can slide up on the back of the head through the night.

Yikes! The price they show for that is $57.90. You can get that from Amazon for $11.82. Here's a link:

I second the Bleep mask. I must have tried upwards of 15-20 masks before the Bleep and it was a game changer! The only one that I could really tolerate. Absolute no slipping, it stays put. No leak, unless your mouth occasionally opens during the night. No mask marks, no air leaking or exhausting into my eyes. It is the ONLY mask, of all the ones I tried (at least half of them on my dime! drove my husband crazy!), that I was able to use for more than a few weeks. I have been using the Bleep since it came out, almost 2 years ago.

Agreed, the bleep mask is amazing! Definitely worth the try, on it for over three months now and finally found the mask I love.

Another vote for trying the Bleep. At the beginning, it's a little fiddly to use, but it gets easier and easier with time. Be sure to use an alcohol prep pad to clean the oils off your skin before each use.

And be sure to get the new, improved Bleep, which has a longer, more flexible short hose and a little black dealie that holds diffusers in place over the vents. I'm sorry to say that cpap.com does not sell this newer version.

Yes miss emerita,I originally bought it from cpap.com and hated the short tube. It constantly became disconnected during my sleep. Luckily I contacted Stuart and he kindly sent me the new model with the diffuser. Great guy.

Thank you all for your comments. I did look at Bleep but wonder if it is stable enough for my turning over and over. Also did not know that Phillips has a nasal pillow mask now. Will check into all of your great suggestions. Many thanks!

I am a very restless stomach and side sleeper and the Bleep stays on very well. That said, I do use the hose management system that Stuart suggests so I imagine that helps as well.

Lots of thumbs up for Bleep! Thank you all and for the photo/hose suggestion. I can do a starter kit and see how it goes. Really appreciate all your comments.
