Bleep/DreamPort nasal mask review thread

Hey bleep users:
How securely do you find the ports to be attached to the tubing? I gave up after a night or two because I couldn't get a stable connection, but I am starting to wonder if I just have a bum mask. There is no audible click, and a little bit of tugging pulls the mask from the ports.
I can't seem to find a video that clarifies this for me.

Give the sockets a twist or two back and forth to get a better click sound and connection. Also, make sure your fingers are up behind the hooks in the socket and not on the arms.

In addition to the fine answers you've received: the ports will have an audible click when you install them properly. Two items to think about:
1) be careful to avoid holding the mask by the clip releases while you insert the dreamports. They won't click in and will come right back out. Use a mirror to see what you are doing until you get used to it. You can detach the mask from its short hose or the short hose from your cpap hose to make it easier to use a mirror.
2) if you insert the dreamports at an angle they reach a point abs it feels like like their all the way in, but no click and they come out easily ... not to mention leak! If this happens don't push harder, back off and try again.

When you place the dreamports on your nose properly they are parallel and don't touch your lip. The less parallel they are the harder it is to insert them properly. Ask me how I know...

All that advice is great for newbies. I am getting better at it each day. I have worn the bleep for 2 weeks. I have had four days with no events and every day except one I had zero leaks . Never had this with any other mask. Last night I forgot to clean the sides of my nose but had a great sleep with no leaks. Really nice that there is no headgear. So glad I found this mask and would recommend it to anyone who is struggling with their present mask.

Make sure those tabs are aligned properly, There's two little nubs on the "outside" of the mask for each nostril that the outside tab is supposed to rest between to keep it from rotating.

Thanks for this. I did not know the outer tab should be between the two nubs. For several days I was having lots of leaking which I could not figure out. I discovered that one of those nubs had gotten stuck directly under the tab. Releasing that stopped the leaking. I mention this in case someone else is having leaking that they just cannot solve. Up until that time I had never even noticed the nubs. And now I know to center the outer tab between the two nubs. Progress!

p.s. I love the bleep system! I sure don't miss the straps on my face and the pressure on my teeth from a regular mask.

Would like to know how often you replace the small white filters on the new vent diffuser on the bleep mask. Also where can you buy these filters? Does Medicare replace them on a regular basis?

I replace when washing no longer seems to clean them enough to suit me.

I use a deconstructed filter from my ResMed machine which Medicare does pay for and more frequently than I ever need it to be replaced but I buy mine on Amazon or EBay because I can buy 12 to 20 for what my co pay using insurance would cost me for 2 of them.

You don't need but 2 or 3 little bitty layers of the filter stuck on the diffuser to do the job. One filter would last for months and months with such small pieces cut from it.

A couple of layers of gauze would also work.

Not pugsy (obviously) but it really doesn't matter. All you are doing is putting something in the way of the airflow (something that still allows air to move though) ... and thus diffusing the air that would otherwise be annoying if it blew straight on you.

Since creating my profile that lists an Airfit F20 mask, had an F30 first. I have tried a Phillips Dreamwear and an F&P Vitera. The dreamwear was the most comfortable but all leaked no matter what I tried. Kept me and my wife awake so I don't think we ever got a good night sleep.

After reading many posts in this thread I called my sleep center and talked to a nurse, I am not sure there is actually a doctor there, to once again ask for help. I suggested a Bleep to her and she had never heard of it. She called me back and I am happy to report they will order me one to be delivered all on my insurance. The ports too. Hooray!

I will report back after trying it out and change my profile to whatever I decide. By the comments here and the simplicity of the Bleep along with no headgear or leaks I can almost predict the outcome. Wish me luck!

I have problems with leaking because a higher pressure pushes my tongue down enough for some air to escape out of my mouth even though it is taped or I'm using Sominex. Just enough to cause leaking. Would that still be an issue with the Bleep? I'm very intrigued by it.

There is some belief that Bleep can achieve effective therapy with somewhat less pressure than other masks. I know when Stuart was helping me he was guiding me to lower the pressure to help with adhesive failures i was having. Once I got part the adhesive issues I went back up a little ... my personal preference.

I am fairly confident that the Bleep won't make your issue worse, but less so that it will improve it.

I think Pugsu used to use that nasal pillow mask you currently have ... you could ask her...
