This is exactly what started happening to me just over two weeks ago. I can’t believe I’m finally reading this. Transitional sleep apnea. Actually sleeping is fine. But getting to sleep is impossible. I can feel myself stop breathing and my O2 level dropping.

This is miserable. Can’t find a doctor who takes this seriously. I’m going to DM you Migraine. But looking all over the internet I’ve haven’t found an answer. This is so scary.
It's going to be okay. Pugsy gave a valid and measured response about this in your therapy thread. If you cannot sleep, breathe. Meditate. Read any books by Jon Kabat-Zinn.

It's all a matter of practice. You can do this.

I've had some really weird looking flow charts lately, stuff like this:

Anyone good at looking at flow charts got any thoughts?

Nothing really jumps out. Your breathing is not 100% constant when you sleep. Dreams, slight shifts in the bed, all kinds of things make us breathe differently for short periods of time.

The proper snoring myself awake as I fall asleep has started again the last couple of nights. Hadn't happened in months, really hoped the CPAP had solved that at least.

Terrified that this continues and I get back to the state I did before. I literally don't think I could bear it again.

I had this apnoea/run of apnoeas the other night:

Which in my mind is pretty long. Anything to worry about or not as long as it's a one off?

Have also had return of my sleep onset issues which sucks, really thought we were past that. I'm pushing for referral to the regional tertiary centre but my doctor is reluctant because she thinks that so long as I'm compliant and my AHI is low that means I'm optimally treated; I would argue that if I can't get to sleep for hours because of my breathing at sleep onset then there's still an issue...

Even resorted to zopiclone the other night to get some sleep before work because I was still awake at 2, which I haven't taken it MONTHS.

I feel for ya migraine. That sleep onset stuff is no joke. I THINK I have more success if I focus on nose breathing rather than mouth. (Full face mask). But I really have no idea.

Hope you find some answers to that! I haven’t found anything yet.

Finally agreed to refer me to the regional centre at Papworth. I'll let you know what happens.
