Repairing cushion seal on Dreamwear Full Face

Post by RaveledSleave » Sun Oct 25, 2020 5:01 am

Hi there!

The cushion on my small size Dreamwear FF has come away from the plastic of the mask - it's a small area, but enough to create a leak. Does anyone know if it's possible to glue it back on successfully? I'm wary of just going at it with superglue or something in case that damages the cushion.

Thanks!

I'm not sure what that item is? If it's just the cushion, how would I attach it to the mask? The cushion on mine doesn't come off (except where it's come away from the plastic).

Your cushion is separate from the mask. It is made to be periodically replaced. Watch this....https://video.search.yahoo.com/search/v ... ction=view

Apologies, but I'm still not following! I watched the video but it doesn't say anything about cushion replacement. I've double-checked my mask, and the cushion is glued or otherwise attached very firmly around the plastic, except for the part where it's detached and is leaking (see picture, with leak circled).

I really can't find any way to remove the cushion from the mask, apart from ripping it off, and I don't know how I would then attach a new cushion. I was under the impression that you just replaced the entire mask with this model.

The entire piece is called the cushion.
Here are the various parts that compose a complete mask.
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/pr-dre ... ment-parts

Unfortunately there is no way to repair a tear in the silicone like you have experienced.
It was never designed to be repaired and silicone tears are nearly impossible to repair. The entire piece has to be replaced.

There are other masks that are made this way where the silicone part is essentially one piece and there is no separate "cushion" that snaps off the hard plastic where we can just take off the silicone part and put a new silicone part on in its place.
Now some masks have that ability but the DreamWear is not one of them.

Silicone gets old, tired and brittle and sometimes just tears. It simply has to be replaced and not repaired.
Various glues could be tried I suppose but they often off gas some nasty stuff and I wouldn't want to risk breathing some of that stuff if it was me. Plus we don't know what kind of chemical reaction might happen between the glue materials and the silicone parts when they are combined.

Time for a new cushion....the entire piece. Always have a spare just in case. Obviously the Amazon deal is an extremely good deal.
I would snatch up a couple of them if I used that mask.

OH, thank you, that's where I was getting confused. On my previous mask the cushion was just the soft silicone part. In that case the Amazon deal is definitely worth it! Thanks for the link, LSAT!

You didn't watch the videos carefully...the very first one shows how to remove the cushion.
