Checking your SD Card everyday, does nothing towards legally protecting you. Having the SD Card in your device is what can protect you.

Though it is a good practise to import regularly to ensure you data is being captured and importing it onto your computer keeps a second copy. One could also argue that removing your card from the device everyday exposes you to potential problems as it allows one to forget the Card in their computer and increases the possibility of damage to one's SD Card or read/writer.

I started my CPAP journey a couple months ago. I found looking at the basic machine stats on the MyAir app to be more than enough to make me obsess.

I personally wouldn’t recommend going into that OSCAR data unless you’re having continuous issues with your treatment and your medical team is having trouble helping.

If you’re having good basic AHI and you feel well, I’d say forget it. Obsessing can cause anxiety and overall hurt your progress if you don’t need to obsess. I’ve seen it personally.

Apparently, I check my data on OSCAR more often than most. I load the data onto my computer/OSCAR around every 5-7 days for two primary reasons. 1) Backup, once the data is on the computer l could then care less about losing old SD card data. All data files are automatically saved to two computers, external hard drives, and cloud storage.

The second reason for frequent checks is that APAP machines (in my case) can easily overcome minor issues that may be red flags of major problems upcoming. Leaks is a prime example, no leaks is my normal so when I suddenly see what are minor Ieaks I know something is not normal and needs investation.

The displays on machines just give the big picture, but you need the data on a computer/OSCAR to know that everything is running normal. But, I am a retired electrical engineer so I am a little "anal", just ask my wife.

Early in my treatment, I used Sleepyhead (the "beta" version of Oscar)
My sleep doc geeked out over it.
His office now uses the "official" program, but whatever rings your bell . . .

You have to save the reports. Doesn't take up that much disk space.......considering the size of some of the drives available now.......and USB portable drives for backup.

There have been a pretty fair number of truck drivers who come up for their certifications and need to prove their compliance with their therapy.......and they come to the forum in a panic trying to figure out how to do it.

There are numerous reasons for saving the data. You don't have to "obsess" with your data, just save it. Years down the road, you may wonder how your therapy has progressed over time.

It's too bad that nobody has come up with a program comparable to "MyEncore" for the newer machines.
It can produce various graphs of daily, weekly, monthly and yearly summaries of the data.

None of which demands importing your data into OSCAR everyday.

I can leave my SD Card in my device for a month, import it into OSCAR, and have access to every report I would have if I had been checking it daily.

Same reason I don't get in a rush to download but to be fair the older Respironics machines didn't store detailed data long term on the Smart Cards which they used for data storage. The machine that Den uses is an older model Respironics machine that uses a SmartCard for data storage and it only holds 7 days worth of detailed data. This is why he uses multiple SmartCards sometimes. Huge PITA for people like me who got lazy about downloading because they got tired of seeing the same boring stuff. It was only with the release of the System One machines and change to SD cards that we got real long term detailed data storage from Respironics machines.
My very first machine was a Respironics M series apap...it used the SmartCard. Den uses the model machine that my M Series machine replaced so an even older model. He's happy with it and that's fine.
