Forum posts doing something weird

Post by Pugsy » Sat Oct 10, 2020 8:22 pm

Anyone else having issues when they post?
Specifically you get the message "someone has posted something since you started composing" "do you want to edit your response"...and the person who posted was yourself?
It wants to keep double posting my replies.

Is anyone else seeing this happen? I have seen a few people obviously have double posts of the same thing. I try to clean them up when I see them but this has been going on for 3 days now for me. Also getting some weird SQL error pages so I am wondering if the forum software is acting up again. Sometimes this happens right before a big blow up and things go down.

So has anyone else had weird stuff happen with the forum software? Weird errors or double posts when you know you didn't hit the submit button twice or are you seeing yourself being the "someone else has posted"???

Something just isn't right and I can't put my finger on it and unfortunately I have absolutely nothing to do with the forum software working end of things.

Not that, but lately the forum speed has been slower. Maybe related.

I had this double posting endless loop happen to me a while back and eventually it quit after the forum went down for a while and when it was back up again....I no longer had the problem.

Not sure why it is affecting only me though. I guess it just wants to annoy me more than usual.

Funny thing though...I haven't noticed anything being slower but I will trade slower for this.

I have to pay special attention to after I hit "submit" now and just back out and go back to the main page or else I get prompted a gazillion times "someone has posted" and that someone was me. I can't get out of it until I just leave the page and go back to main page.

Don't be surprised if the forum goes down though....historically it seems like once it starts acting up in some fashion or other eventually something breaks.

I have also received a few myself timeout errors, suggesting the problems stem from the database, or the performance of the host.

Somethings amuck!

Yes, been getting the same thing (as Pugsy), as well as what I asked about yesterday... the site and pgs opening slowly and a 'Not Secure' thing in front of the URL... Apple says it's not me or my machine.

I did see a couple of double posts from you and I did remove the extra one but I haven't had the "not secure" issues...but then I have Windows.
But I have been getting a lot of what I call SQL errors where it says to notify the board administrator kind of thing but usually if I reload the page it goes away.

Something weird is happening folks so don't be surprised if we go down for a few hours. This has historically been the pattern in the past.

Of course on the bright side...I can keep telling people who annoy me a never ending "go to hell"

I got one of the messages saying I couldn’t post again so soon, even though I hit the button only once. Everything has also been slow these past two days.

I blame my internet carrier.
It is probably their fault.

Chunky - we wouldn't all have the same problems if it was our servers.

This forum has a very significant lag unlike other websites. That is what is causing your issue for the most part. If you personally have a slow computer or slow connection this will compound the issue. Mostly it is the the hosts fault. I would switch hosts. That is something the website owner would have to do if they felt it was needed.

Hi, Pugsy

_ no similar problems with repeating things, etc;

_ do, noticed, under same internet background/server/so on, much more slowness in the system, lately;

all the best and good luck

Agreed, but my carrier is still not off the hook.
There are problems unrelated to this site.
Maybe the box needs to be traded in----AGAIN.

As far as the "Not Secure" warning, It's because the Site ISN'T Secure, it's not meant to be Secure! The Internet has new rules they made the new standard HTTPS it's the new standard for internet security, this site is still running the old HTTP Standard, (Less Secure), I costs money to switch over. Cpap Dot Com, doesn't charge you to be here, no money is handled over the forum, If you are worried your posts will be stolen, don't get on the internet or send our host big piles of money to pay for their effort.  Jim

Have had same as you Pugsy.
I just recently changed from HP to Mac book Air and just wrote it off as that.
The error message happens even if I am not logged on.
I just reload and continue on.
I have had the "someone posted before you (and it was me) alert" occasionally since I have been on here. Just figured it was old nimble fingered me.
Has been happening more often recently, and I do not post as often as I used to.

For what it's worth. :D
