WINX Machine Wanted
WINX Machine Wanted
I want to buy a WINX machine and will consider either a new or used machine from any source. I have a prescription (in case you care). I'd be very thankful if anyone has leads (or a machine). I'd also like to buy a mouthpiece, new or used, even if you don't have a machine.
I would also welcome contact information for any past or current employees of the WINX company (Apnicure).
Here's the background to my request.
I have complex / mixed sleep apnea that has not been adequately responsive to a range of treatments. I did a full PSG overnight sleep study with WINX and, somewhat to my doctor's surprise, had fairly good results. We were just about to move forward when the company seems to have gone bust (or at least into remission). Does anyone have a WINX machine they don't need, or know where I can get one? Used or new does not matter to me. I'll even consider a broken machine, assuming it might be fixable.

Re: WINX Machine Wanted
Any reason you aren't interested in other (more accessible and possibly newer) machines?
Re: WINX Machine Wanted
Sadly, the company is no more, as you probably know by now. The main issue with buying a used machine is that the mouthpiece has to be sized to your mouth - part of the process of getting setup with a Winx was to get your dental impression to select the correct size. Without that process, you're likely not going to have a good result.
If Winx seemed to have helped, a CPAP or MAD are certainly likely candidates to help you.
Good luck. I have a Winx. It mostly works for me -- at least enough to be more preferrable than a CPAP or a MAD. But at some point, I too will have to find an alternate solution.

@socaljoe
Do you still have your Winx? Are you looking to sell it?

unfortunately, it looks like joe there created a count on the same day he posted (christmas eve 2017) and hasn't logged back in since.

Danger, Will Robinson!
Winx has been associated with complications after dental surgery. (Dry socket)

I had a tooth removed recently and I was terrified of that. Luckily, very easy healing.chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Sat Aug 29, 2020 4:16 pmDanger, Will Robinson!

<shudder>
Sleep loss is a terrible thing. People get grumpy, short-tempered, etc. That happens here even among the generally friendly. Try not to take it personally.
Re: WINX Machine Wanted
I have had 2 teeth removed since being on cpap. I didn't have any problems and I kept right on using cpap. Didn't miss a night.
Cpap is positive pressure in the mouth....
what we want to avoid after a tooth extraction is negative pressure.
That's why they tell people no smoking, no drinking out of a straw, etc. Anything that requires sucking creates negative pressure.
With how the Winx works...ultimate in negative pressure.
