Using a CPAP with a portable power station
Using a CPAP with a portable power station
I have a Respironics Remstar Plus M-series CPAP. i have been looking into getting a portable power unit for camping. From what I have read both here and in some of the reviews on Amazon, you can run the CPAP significantly longer if you use the 12v hookup on the portable power unit. The ones I have looked at have a jack for the 12v output. The Respironics power adapter for my CPAP lists the output as 12v (just the CPAP, not the humidifier). How do I hook up my CPAP to the 12v jack on the portable power supply? One of the one's I am looking at includes a cable for the 12v jack. Since the Respironics power adapter is outputting 12v, do I just plug that cable in directly to my CPAP? Could it be that simple?
Re: Using a CPAP with a portable power station
The Respironics power adapter has a 12V power plug (the kind that goes in a cigarette lighter kind of socket) on one end, and the correct connector for the machine on the other end.
It is indeed that simple.

Sleep loss is a terrible thing. People get grumpy, short-tempered, etc. That happens here even among the generally friendly. Try not to take it personally.
Re: Using a CPAP with a portable power station
Thanks for the info. I was actually wondering about the cable going to the portable power supply itself, not one going to the CPAP. After looking at a more power supplies on Amazon, I noticed that most came with a female lighter socket adapter. Once I saw that, it made more sense. I just need the 12v cigarette lighter socket adapter like you suggested and that will plug into the one that comes with the power supply. Thanks again for your reply!
