F&P Brevida with AirSense 10 machine

Post by R1200ST » Fri Jul 17, 2020 7:58 am

Hi everyone,

Long time no visit, as everything was working well. My machine was getting old and dropped a couple times so I visited my VA team in Dallas and they provided my a new machine the AirSense10 and switched me to the Brevida nasal pillow mask.

So went home set everything up, and just not getting thing right.

First off, my wife complains about the "hooting" noise the machine makes. Instead of a quiet sound of the system one. Any ideas for that?
Second I don't feel as rested, and not getting enough air. I'm on 9-12 settings. According to the machine report, which seems to never change, my mask fit is perfect and my events are minimal. I just don't believe that with the fatigue that I am feeling.

Getting back into the VA is going to be extremely difficult. I called them 5 times into the central reservation line, but they are not calling me back, so any ideas on what to do?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Rich

The machine shouldn't be making "hooting" noises...if the unwanted noise is for sure coming from the machine it is a lemon and needs to be swapped out. They should be silent. At least as quiet as the system one machine if not more quiet.

Do you still have your old mask handy? If so, give it a try.

Are you actually sleeping with the new mask or are you having a lot of wake ups during the night for some reason or other?

Wow I honestly didn’t think of the machine might be a lemon. I’ll lead with that the next time I call the VA. I wore new mask and old machine but honestly just went back to old set up until I get this figured out.

ResMed mahines aren't noisy unless there is a problem with the machine itself. If an annoying noise is loud enough to be heard by a spouse and it's for sure the machine and not mask related...there's a problem with the machine and it's a lemon and needs to go back.
I have owned several S9 models...2 AirSense 10 Autosets...and now also have an AirCurve 10.....all silent and more quiet than the Respironics machines I have had in the past.
While lemons aren't common....they aren't impossible either. It's a piece of electronics and sometimes crap happens.
