Throat flapping, fatigue, and no events??

Post by msharaf7 » Tue Oct 01, 2019 11:48 am

So I have a bit of a weird problem. Lately, I’ve been falling asleep & I feel a sort of flapping sensation coming from the bottom of my throat, around where my epiglottis is. It wakes me up and I can’t fall asleep at all. It’s just come on sort of recently and I don’t know how to cope with it.

I feel like my BiPap data is pretty useless because it consistently shows I have less than 1 AHI, but I wake up exhausted a lot during the week. Also, there are some nights where it seems like I just sleep through it. I can post pics via OSCAR but the graphs look almost identical and there’s almost no flags on either.

I’m going at this alone cause my doctor a couple years ago said I didn’t have any sort of sleep apnea, but I completely disagree as my cpap and bipap that I bought seemed to help a ton at first.

What are your pressure settings? Do you use OSCAR?

One thing that users do to see if they have events is to drop their pressure settings a notch or two every night. Observe whether events eventually start to show up.

That's a simple explanation, so if you try it, report back here before coming to a conclusion.

Settings were 22/25 epap/ipap with a biflex of 3. I dropped it to 21/24 with the same biflex and I had a good night or two. Im guessing I probably had some central apneas, but my machines tend to all say I have below a 1 ahi consistently, no matter how I sleep. I still get the sensation of my epiglottis flapping shut and makes me wake up so that’s what mainly bugs me, cause last night I think I got 3 hours of sleep.

Hey, i think i am also experiencing this. As soon as i fall asleep i feel a sudden closing of my throat and it creates a panic. It is worse on CPAP. Can we share some flow graphs to identify?

It's not clear whom you are asking. If you want some opinions on your own therapy, please start a new thread for your OSCAR screenshots.

yes, of course.

and like chicago granny advises, start your own thread, please.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.
