What is the highest EPR in Apap or Bipap machines?
Hi Everyone,
I'm using a Z1 Auto, recently find that I should benefit better with a higher differential than -3, is there anything out there that allows you to increase this difference in EPR pressure between inhaling and exhaling?
Thanks in advance,
Marquis

Unless you're talking about philips respironics machines, it's not a BiPAP™.marquisvns wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 10:41 pmHi Everyone,

Why do you think you need more pressure support? (the difference between inhale and exhale pressures).
Get OSCAR
Accounts to put on the foe list: dataq1, clownbell, gearchange, lynninnj, mper!?, DreamDiver, Geer1, almostadoctor, sleepgeek, ajack, stom, mogy, D.H., They often post misleading, timewasting stuff.

Re: What is the highest EPR in Apap or Bipap machines?
I skip ramp up (hate it) and set my Z1 at 7.5 to 11 with -3 Apap mode. I get an immediate pressure to be able fall asleep on my sides but not on my back with my face facing up, I believe if I had higher pressure would solve this problem. I find somewhere above 10 at -3EPR my lung would feel bloated, not able to exhale completely and that's not a good feeling. So I believe if there's something that I could adjust for a wider differential would help me greatly.palerider wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 8:33 amUnless you're talking about philips respironics machines, it's not a BiPAP™.marquisvns wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 10:41 pmHi Everyone,

So what should I do?
Thanks again everyone!

The most highly recommended bilevel machine is the ResMed Air Curve 10 VAUTO. The next most recommended machine is the Philips Respironics Dream Station Bipap auto.

Re: What is the highest EPR in Apap or Bipap machines?
Marquis, if your problem on your back is obstructive apnea, using greater pressure support is unlikely to help you. The reason is that it's your EPAP pressure that will help to keep your airway open. (Thank you, palerider, for drumming this into me.)
What happens to your numbers when you sleep on your back, do you know? Also, is there any chance your problems on your back are cause by your head dropping down toward your chest? If that might be it, you could try a lower pillow and a soft cervical collar to keep you from chin-tucking.

Thank you for your suggestions Okie, I actually ended up with a Dreamstation Bipap, but can't get used to the In and ex contrast, needed to be softer or more gradual, not sure how to adjust this. So I resorted back to Z1 AutoOkie bipap wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 5:09 pmThe most highly recommended bilevel machine is the ResMed Air Curve 10 VAUTO. Hi Miss Emerita, thank you for your post, it actually helped me a lot. I went your direction, opposite to my original thoughts and actually is working out better. I'm now at 9 Apap-1 and slept well. Thank Palerider for me and thank you again for sharing.Miss Emerita wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 5:23 pmMarquis, if your problem on your back is obstructive apnea, using greater pressure support is unlikely to help you.
