UARS - Looking to buy VAuto w/o Rx

Post by theclient1437 » Wed May 27, 2020 4:13 pm

Hi All,

I took a WatchPAT study, which revealed an RDI of 14.6. As such, I'm looking to purchase a ResMed VAuto to treat it. However, with Covid going on, I'm unable to get an Rx from my normal sleep doctor, as his clinic is closed.

Is there anyone on this board that knows where I could purchase a used ResMed Vauto ?

Thanks in advance.

You can get a prescription from your primary care physician or a dentist. If you want a ResMed VAuto, be sure that's what the prescription says -- also, something like "and APAP supplies of patient's choice."

Forum member LSAT sometimes has lightly used machines for sale. I got my VAuto from him, and everything went completely smoothly. You could send him a private message.

Just curious: why do you want a VAuto, rather than, say, a ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset?

I know while I was on a dreamstation I had to be at 16 cm h2o or above to eliminate most things and had quite a bit of upper airway resistance and got switched to a Resmed Aircurve 10 vauto and it knocked most of those out and lowered my overall pressure needed with EPAP and IPAP and the PS.

Re the VAuto vs. Airsense, I've trialed a VAuto in the past from a friend. Based on analyzing the OSCAR data, my min pressure was 9, EPAP was 5, and Pressure Support was 4.4

My understanding is the Airsense is limited to an EPR of 3, so it would be hard for me to achieve the same or similar effect. Please let me know if I'm wrong.

Thanks!
