CPAP without apnea

Post by mnguy86 » Mon May 25, 2020 11:27 pm

Hello,

So I have been a snorer since I can remember, sometimes quite loud. I often wake up very fatigued and have issues waking up throughout the night. I’ve wanted to get the test done, but I have a super high deductible and don’t really want to shell out the cash for it out of pocket. However, I recorded myself sleeping the other night and from what I can tell, it doesn’t seem like I have episodes where I stop breathing, at least not often. It’s easy to tell too because I snore constantly when I sleep, so if I stop breathing I can tell. My mom has a cpap that she doesn’t need anymore since she lost 100 pounds, so she said I could have it if I want it. I was thinking of just giving it a try on auto mode and see how it goes. I’m wondering if a cpap could help me stop snoring and get better sleep, even though I don’t think I have apnea? Any insight would be great. Thanks!

Side note: I’ve tried the cheap mouth guards and they always feel uncomfortable, but maybe that is an option too if I can find one I can tolerate.

A properly adjusted CPAP will stop you from snoring, and you and all around you will sleep better. I put a cpap on a roommate that was a terrible snorer some years ago, though I don't know for sure that he had any apnea, and after a while, he said he felt better. to the point that when he moved out suddenly, he stole my spare cpap.

Your mother may still have apnea.
Losing excess weight is not a cure, though it often helps.

False negatives happen on tests frequently.

I didn’t ask you a question about my mom, so how about you stick to what I actually asked

No one on here gets paid to help to give you insight. A-hole.
They are all volunteering.

Good luck.

Please.....no more inappropriate profanity.

Offending words will be edited out.

A-hole is one thing...the F bomb is a whole different thing.

Well.....two wrongs don't make a right and using the F bomb is totally unacceptable language here.

I won't allow it....accept the limitation or move on to another forum or lose your posting privileges here if you wish to continue with such language.

And THAT is the real end of the story....Moderator has spoken. Final warning...and everyone knows that when I say final warning...that's the final warning.

Doesn't one usually say something along the lines of "Don't let it hit you in the A-hole on the way out" :)
