Removing odor from a machine.

Post by mlsrealty » Thu May 14, 2020 6:31 pm

So I have purchased a used machine....it has a bit of a weird odor to it...can't pinpoint what it is....But I need some tips on how to try and reduce it, if there is a way...or is it only going to go away after time and use....

it's fairly common for machines to have a faint perfumy/powdery odor, that's from the silicone inside.

Cpap.com sells several aromatherapy fragrances that can cover peculiar odors from your machine.
Some are even useful for fighting stuffiness and congestion.
I like a citrus/sage scent--not perfumey, per se, but nice and soothing.
I put a piece of a yankee candle scented wax by the air intake.
No heat-no burning--just the light scent from the room temperature wax.

Try running the unit outside or at an open window for several hours...Then change the filter.

Yes, wash it out and run it dry for several hours. I don't know when it was last used, and the air inside is likely "stale."

That is idiotic,
Any "stale" air inside the machine is flushed out within a *second* of it starting up.

If you follow D.H.'s suggestion and "flushed" it out with water... you now have a machine that is TOAST. Never listen to D.H
I just got bought a used machine from LSAT, and just ran it for about a 1/2 hour near a window and it was good to go.
Cheers

I wondered why the average IQ of the forum suddenly seemed about 20 points higher, but, back to normal now.

So, yeah, I missed him about as much as terminal cancer.

If you're implying he tried to be an idiot, he succeeded admirably, exceptional.
