First, both my CPAP machine and humidifier are not listed in the respective drop-down lists, so I am unable to complete my profile.

Now that that is out of the way, I am wondering in anyone might be able to assist with my CPAP settings.

I participated in a sleep study years back and at the end of the session I was diagnosed with "positional sleep apnea," meaning it impacted me the least when sleeping on my side. Now, that might be common enough, but you'll never guess what my prescription was...a tee-shirt with a pocket in the middle of the back, in which a styrofoam tube was inserted to force side sleeping. That was a $2,500 shirt! Is that really a thing?! Needless to say, I have never returned.

Over the years, my apnea has apparently grown more noticeable to the point where my wife says I stop breathing and if I don't wake myself, she wakes me. This is, of course, in addition to the snoring.

So, I decided to pick up a CPAP and give 'er a go. Yup, you guessed it, that's why I'm inquiring about assistance with the settings. I've played around with the clinical settings and tried about every combination of changes I could, but just can't seem to find the right mix to help me make it past that three hour mark. At or around that point, I wake up because it feels like the pressure is way too high, the mask feels as though it has severely tightened due to said pressure, and it's too difficult to exhale. I'm primarily using the "myAir" app on my phone for the results, but have downloaded a couple of other PC-based applications.

I know everyone will probably advise another sleep study, but with the results I received previously, I have no desire to return.

Anyway, my CPAP is a RedMed AirCurve 10 ASV, with heated humidifier and my mask is the Mirage Quattro full face mask with headgear.

Anyone out there care to chime in on possible modifications to the min and max epap settings as well as the min and max ps settings?

First thing you have to do is to download Oscar https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/. Read on the top posts on what graphs are needed and then post snapshots. Until we can see what is going on giving you any advice is just a shot in the dark blindfolded.

When you can't find a machine model in the drop down menu we advise people to simply list the model in the comments section.

All equipment menu choices are tied to cpap.com current inventory and if not sold right now....won't be available as a choice.

Is there any specific reason for purchasing an ASV machine...That is a very expensive specialized machine for treating Central Apnea. If you don't understand the machine it's difficult to use for standard sleep apnea.

Yeah, dangit. Misspelled it in the post, but still don't see the "exact" product (ResMed AirCurve 10 ASV) listed in the drop-down (see below). Should I just use one of the other AirCurve models listed or just use the suggested spell-it-out-in-the-comment-field choice? Thanx.

People should always just add the correct machine model in the comments section manually.

To choose a machine that "is close" will just cause confusion because each machine can do different things.

Leave the machine choice blank and just manually add it to the comments section....this will avoid potential confusion and delay in getting optimal suggestions to best deal with any issues.

Got a killer deal on the machine. Wasn't looking for any specific type of machine, just looking for a CPAP in general. Picked this up for around $600.

Your current settings are doing a very decent job of handling your OSA.

I don't know that they need adjusting at this time. This machine is pretty good at dealing with OSA at the default settings (pretty much what you are using) as long as the EPAP is high enough to prevent the airway from collapsing and it appears that your settings are doing that fairly well.

You are having some awfully short sleep sessions though...any special reason why they are so short?
Are you having trouble sleeping with the machine doing its thing with these settings?

Oh....BTW...those sleep reports aren't the best for evaluating things....a detailed report is better.

Yes, that's exactly why my sleep sessions are so short. I'm having major issues with the machine "doing it's thing." (lol)

I wake up because I can't breathe...due to the pressure being so high that it's difficult to exhale. Therefore, I reach over and hit the power button, remove the mask, and go back to my crappy, constantly interrupted sleep.

How the heck do I get past this?
