Not happy what it's doing to my nose

Post by sheathecat » Fri May 08, 2020 10:45 am

Gee, my security system doesn't like this board. I have used CPAP for about a year, trying a number of masks. My nose is constantly red on the bridge, my skin is dry but now my nose is very oily, and my eyes are drying out.
I used a pillow type for a while but with only one band it wouldn't stay on my head.
Now it stays on the head but not liking the other problems. Has anyone tried using the liners?
Any other suggestions

Welcome sheathecat!

Sounds like you're already pretty familiar with your machine and mask. It will help us help you if we know more about both.
Check out the "Newbies Start Here" link in my signature to get started with things like filling out your profile for machine and mask, etc.

Liners are pretty popular here. Some make them homemade. Others seem to like PadACheek brand.

In a pinch, you can tear a gasket out of a clean Viva paper towel.

Oh dear, eyes drying out...I feel your pain! I had such problems with eyes drying either from leaks around my masks (yes plural, I tried MANY masks!) or exhaust that I ended up having to see a dry eye specialist. It got so bad I could no longer drive, read, and could barely knit! I switched to the Bleep mask as soon as it came out last year and it has been a life saver as far as my eyes! It is virtually leak-free, as it sticks onto your nose with adhesive (no straps so no slipping, no adjusting during the night!). The exhaust is straight down and I use a cut-up air filter to diffuse the exhaust...works great! It truly is the only mask I have been able to use for any period of time. My first year on CPAP, I was constantly changing, trying different mask (upwards of 15-20 different ones), most out of pocket (after the first month). Since March 2019, I have only used the Bleep, it has worked so well for me!
