alternative to Resmed quattro mirage FFM

Post by kirwanc » Wed Apr 08, 2020 6:53 am

Hello,

My husband uses the Resmed Quattro mirage, but we're struggling to source parts here in the UAE.
Can anyone tell me of the closest mask alternative which doesn't have shipping restrictions from each country please.
Or can someone help me identify a source for forehead supports for the Quattro mirage who can ship worldwide?

Thank you so much for your help
Cat

As you have found out ResMed puts restrictions on most online retailers as to where they can ship ResMed products. ResMed won't allow the retailers to ship outside their country of residence.

You would need to find a retailer whose residence is in the UAE which I assume is difficult or you wouldn't be here.

There is one way around it at least here in the US....there are businesses that will accept products and turn around and mail/ship them to you.
You set up a mailing address here in the US to one of those businesses and have the product shipped to that address and then when they get it they turn around and mail it to you.

Amazon will ship worldwide....any secondary seller who hasn't signed a direct contract with ResMed can ship where ever they want to ship.
EBay sellers ....some will ship worldwide.

Finally if you know someone in the US...you can have the products shipped to them and have them forward the products to you.

It is a way around the shipping restrictions for online retailers like cpap.com. You can still buy it yourself but just have it shipped to an address in the US and then the product gets forwarded by whomever on to you.

I used the Quattro for over 8 years. One day I decided to try the Fisher and Paykel Simplus. It is similar to the Quattro in that it has the forehead support which adds stability to the mask. The Simplus is a little lighter and less bulky than the Quattro. Fisher and Paykel recently came out with the Vitera mask which is supposed to be an upgrade to the Simplus....Haven't tried that yet.

The Airfit F20 is a solid mask, the one with the silicone cushion not the AirTouch. You may need Remzzz or a liner with high pressures, but with lower-moderate pressure it is pretty good.

The F&P Simplus or Vitera are similar masks to the Resmed Quattro Mirage FFM, but the neither the Simplus nor the Vitera work well for a person with a narrow/sharp/pointed nose bridge in my experience. The cushion is a bit wider than the Resmed Quattro Mirage FFM in that particular area, so as long as your husband's nose bridge doesn't protrude too narrow/sharply I would recommend either of those F&P masks.

I have a very narrow bridge on my nose, and have been able to use the F&P Simplus and the ResMed F20 masks.

Thanks for all your replies.
Pugsy, I've tried your suggestion - fingers crossed.

I'll send the alternative suggestions to hubby too for him to do some research on.

Thank you all for your help - it's made my day!
Stay safe

I switched from Quattro Mirage to Resmed AirFit F20 about 2 years ago. It has worked out great, fewer leaks and easier to get on/off. I also find it easier to clean given the fewer parts. I did find the F20 runs a little smaller. I was a medium on the Quatrro but need a Large F20.
