AS10 FH Received and Ready to Go! Thoughts on the upgrade...
Okay, it's been reviewed to death.
I'll just say I love it.
I copied the settings from my old machine to the new one. I'm using the heated ClimateLineAir. Added Pad A Cheek's latest strap. (Nice!)
I notice the pressure seems more forceful than my S9 for the same settings, even on the "for her" setting. This is good! It feels the way my S9 used to feel. I'm beginning to wonder if I was receiving the correct pressure after 10+ years on a machine that has been telling me the motor had exceeded its useful life. I think I might need to test that machine's pressure if I'm going to use it as a backup.
I got the AirFit 20 with 2 replacement cushions. Wow, it fits great in the mask fit function! Looking forward to testing it out tonight. Now I have to make some strap covers out of t-shirt material...
If anyone has suggestions on mask fit or settings, I'd love to hear them.

Did it come with a SD card...and where did you get it from?

Does your menu have the myAir entry?--IT'S A TRAP--don't TOUCH it!
The damn line only has the "yes" button.
To avoid a yes, you have to unplug the power supply.

Thanks, LSAT, I checked out some of the videos. I'm glad I didn't get the Airfit F30. It looks a little like the hybrid. Something pushing against my nares for the whole night isn't great, but such a mask would be great for naps, especially if you're traveling in the passenger seat.LSAT wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 7:54 pmThere is always google...

Mine came with an SD card in a sleeve. CPAP.com does it right.
I saw that. I've put it into airplane mode so it can't even communicate. It keeps asking me if I really, really meant to put it into Airplane mode.chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 8:53 pmDoes your menu have the myAir entry?--IT'S A TRAP--don't TOUCH it!

EDIT: I took it off airplane mode. There's a big yellow No symbol across the cell bars. No connection. So the point is moot.

First Impressions... First night...
Wow, I like that you can see a live average of where you are in that night's therapy, current pressure, etc. Nice!
I like that the light sensor dims the panel. It's not glaring at me. Not sure the dial ever needs to be that bright, but hey, when it's dim it's not glaring either. There is that dawn/dusk period when you end up having to shine a light on the sensor so you can actually read stuff. That's weird.
The Climate Control on Auto was way off. About midnight I woke up with my mouth totally dry, probably from the large leak. Worse than peanut butter --- all stuck together. I took a sip of water and could talk again. I took it off auto. The temp for the hose was 82 degrees! WTF! I set it to 70 degrees. The humidity was set too low, so I set it to 5. I went the rest of the night without incident -- no dry mouth. Okay!
I like the access location for the SD card. I like the filter pad access and especially how it's seated. It looks more secure than the S9 filter ever was. The Oximeter/USB port is on that side. Not having access, I can't say whether port is well-designed or clumsy. This port is only briefly mentioned and not even mapped in a graphic in the clinician's manual. No mention at all in the User Guide.
I like that the climateline hose can be adapted for oxygen. I don't like the proprietary heater connector. It's much more difficult to connect. The S9 climateline could be connected without even looking at it. Also, the plastic prong looks like it could get brittle fairly quickly. I'm curious if this has been the case and whether this heated hose has to be replaced more often than the S9 climateline.
I like the F20 mask. The medium is almost too small, but I suspect a large might have had more leakage. It pushes right at the base of my teeth on the lower jaw in a way that makes me wonder if it's going to cause tooth movement, but I'm not experiencing pain points there, so I'm going to continue with this mask.
RERA's... More data in general than the S9. This is the first device I've had that measures these. Getting UA's usually during large leak, so that's understandable. I mostly have only clear airway apneas. This device is apparently more sensitive than the S9 because it picked up a four-second snore. I don't think I've had any snores ever measured on my S9. Plus my flow limitations seem to be measured differently too. Interesting stuff!
I put the papcap back on when I made changes at midnight. Absolutely no large leaks after that. Boom!
Apparently I got up to pee at 4am -- 5-minute gap in therapy -- but I only vaguely remember it. That's probably good thing. Life as normal, right?
So far so good.
Chris
Typical S9 readings from OSCAR -- usually nothing but CA's.

Last nights AS10 readings from OSCAR -- more sensitive?

I have been using the same heated hose for 3 years now.
But then I rarely unplug it to have to plug it in again since I see no need to wash the hose.
Maybe twice a year it will get unplugged to have to be plugged in again if I travel and prefer to just take that machine instead of messing with the travel machine.

Thanks, Pugsy,
That's been about my speed with the ClimateLine for the S9 on all counts, so I'm glad to hear the same should hold true with this hose. Cheers!

I don't know if you can attribute the two non-CA flagged events as being attributable to using the AS 10, or it being more sensitive. You're also using slightly less minimum pressure.DreamDiver wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 9:31 am

- It's just one night
- You did indicate your S9 chart was a typical night, that suggests you get the occasional non-CA event
- The flagged UA could have been a CA but couldn't have been determined because of the leak
If interested, get a few more nights data, than switch to APAP mode.

Good point! I elected to try the lower minimum for a night, but I did extensive zeroing in on min and max a long time ago and hadn't changed them in a while. I thought just try wider parameters to see if it made difference. It may have. Tonight it goes back to 10.4 rather than 10.2. Thanks for spotting that.
I also put the max up to 12, when my usual max setting has been 11.8 to cap off aerophagia.
I think the key is to get back to basics. I tried making too many changes in one night. No papcap, widened min-max params. All of that goes back to normal as on my S9. The only change I'll keep is the "For Her" algorithm and the new mask which seems to be containing leaks better.Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 12:09 pmHaving said that your flow limitations appears to be a little more active. This might be attributable to you being in APAP: for Her mode which I believe uses a softer response than APAP mode. <-- Yeah, APAP mode was pretty ideal for me. It's possible I should switch back, but as you suggest, I am looking forward to giving the For Her mode more test time.
- It's just one night <-- yep
- You did indicate your S9 chart was a typical night, that suggests you get the occasional non-CA event <-- I've had a few hypops - enough to count on both hands over the years, but almost always CA's until the last month or two. Now I've been seeing Hypops and UA's, probably because of recent large leak I just couldn't seem to contain.
- The flagged UA could have been a CA but couldn't have been determined because of the leak <-- yep
If interested, get a few more nights data, than switch to APAP mode. <-- yep
Thanks Dog Slobber!

A word about the for Her APAP mode vs the regular APAP mode.
It always makes the Flow limitions look at little "worse" than regular mode. I have used both modes on the For Her model I have and I am currently using the AirCurve 10 VAuto. I used exact same settings.
The for Her mode...the FL graph simply looked worse than the regular apap mode or my AirCurve FL graph.
Now I don't think for one minute my sleep is that different overall.
Remember...the for Her mode auto algorithm is designed to specially address FLs...it looks for them harder I guess and what it reports visually will look worse than same settings in regular mode when looking at the FL graph.

Thanks for the insight Pugsy! It brings into focus the fact that what matters most is how you feel when you wake up in the morning.
