Water consumption depends on several factors.
1...the ambient humidity in your house...the drier the air in your house the more water will be used
2...the pressure you use....the more pressure you use the more water you will use.
3...large leaks...this will also cause more water to be used up because more air flows over the water
4...how long you use the cpap machine...the longer you use it the more water you will use.
5...your humidity setting selected on the machine...higher setting uses more water.

I have to fill my water chamber every day....
If I slept 10 hours I would for sure wake up to a dry water chamber. Otherwise with 6 to 8 hours of use I might use a little over a half to maybe 3/4 the water in the chamber.
Only time I won't use much water....when it's raining outside and I have the windows open so that the ambient humidity inside the house is up higher because of the rain outside which means if course 100% humidity outside.

LOL on the 10 hours Pugsy. I normally sleep around 6 hours and take several naps during the day. Wife is school teacher and home from school because of the Corona Virus issue. So been staying up late watching our DVR and sleeping in. Guess I will have to get use to filling up the tub every morning.

 There are worse things in life than taking a few seconds to pull out that chamber and adding water to it.

If it happens to rain a lot where you live and you have the windows open you might get 2 nights but the cold hard fact is that it was really designed for 1 night and not multiple nights. Some people get multiple nights because of their settings or where they live in terms of ambient humidity but they just got lucky.
I have been on cpap nearly 11 years now and refilling the chamber is just part of my daily routine. I like to do it at night though...just a habit I got into doing.
There are rare occasions where I pull out the chamber and I didn't use much (raining) or extremely short night on cpap and I don't have to top the water off but it's not very often.

You will eventually get used to doing it and it will be a routine part of your day or night.

I have been on CPAP machines since 2004 and damn near have been 100% compliant every month due to my wife's stringent enforcement. . I will get use to filling that there water tub.

Happy wife.....happy life. She loves you and wants to keep you hanging around and in good health while hanging around.

She who must be obeyed.

I am the man of the house.....whenever my wife lets me.

And so on and so on and so on.

But sometimes it's hubby....my hubby doesn't have apnea...but he was sure on my ass about stopping breathing and to get tested and every night he is home (he's OTR truck driver so not home every night) he always asks me....machine ready to go tonight which is code for "did you fill up the water chamber" to remind me because there have been a handful of occasions where I have forgotten and paid for it the next day.

WOW, nice your husband helps you remember the water tub. You are correct about my wife except I got tested because my snoring irritated the hell out of her. I barely qualified for sleep apnea. CPAP machine has done hell of a job stopping my snoring so happy wife.

For the first 2 years of use, my CPAP used 25%-50% of the tub. As of late last year, It now uses over 100% - as in, I'll often wake up early in the morning to a bone dry tank. I've taken to filling it up exactly to the line, and then filling it up a bit more around 3 AM when I inevitably wake up due to dry mouth, which is also a new problem - until recently the humidifier was very good at preventing dry mouth. Now it doesn't, and I consistently get it every night.

I wonder why the tub mileage has increased!

Well I just pulled the trigger and ordered a new CPAP because I noticed CPAP.com was having a sale, so I saved nearly $200 on it. It's well before I was planning on replacing it, but... Oh well, at least I'll have a working spare.

So, um, there might have been nothing wrong with my machine. I might have had my pressure too high. Way, way too high. Like, at min 16-17 cmH2O.

For the life of me, I can't remember WHY I did that. I seem to remember having trouble breathing in enough air at lower pressures, especially when my sinuses were clogged. But last night, after noticing the water was still being used too fast, I turned my new machine down to min 6/max 15 and I slept great.

Maybe I had to turn the pressure up because I wasn't replacing my mask often enough, and it was having trouble working without doing that? Dunno. Complete speculation. Anyway. I might have just bought a new machine needlessly. I'll use it over the next week or so, and then switch back to my old machine to test at the new pressure settings. Worst case scenario, I have a spare machine a few years earlier than I expected, I guess.
