I was diagnosed with sleep apnea this summer. I saw two specialist regarding my tongue which felt "too big" for my mouth. I thought it was a result of my Hashi's or my acid reflux. I was told sometimes people just have big tongues! After using my cpap machine for 3 months it dawned on me one day that my tongue now felt normal. Is the a correlation? I am going to say yes,but I am no doctor.

Note that this is a very old thread but some of the info contained you may still find useful. As I posted back then, my enlarged tongue resolved after effective cpap treatment. Here's a link to some discussion over on PubMed just in case you might find something there relative to your situation.

Byron Schlenker from Syracuse, New York is the current Guiness record-holder for world's widest tongue. His daughter, Emily, is competitive.

Look at his tongue, his two chins and his obesity. I bet he has sleep apnea. It's going to take a very high pressure to move that tongue out of the way.

I have been using a CPAP for over 10 years.
I find when I use a full face mask, my tonge
becomes very swollen and extremely painful. I have to use a full face mask everytime I need to order my regular size,

Consult your doctor.
You may have thrush.
No connection AT ALL to using cpap.
Nice try, though.
