.....While these devices claiming to clean, sanitize or disinfect CPAP machines and accessories have not been FDA cleared or approved for marketing in the U.S., the FDA conducted its own preliminary lab testing on several of those illegally marketed products. The testing demonstrated ozone-using disinfection devices generated ambient levels of ozone above limits considered safe for human exposure. Ozone levels were also high in CPAP machines and tubing even after waiting the amount of time recommended by the ozone-based device manufacturer after a cleaning cycle. ....

I wonder if any culpability can be laid on William Shatner
or all the other shills who have plagued this forum for lo these many years.
That would be so cool.

Maybe now those companies will collapse a few weeks earlier than the rest of the world economy does! Unless, of course, the marketing people at socr*p and Captain Kirk can quickly convince the world that "activated oxygen" is the best way to disinfect your N95 respirator mask after you get home from your daily commute to work each day.

This has become a lot more serious than just throwing away $200 for a useless machine.
I would like a "real" sanitizer, in light of the possibility of a pandemic.
I know if I get it it won't be from CPAP, but there's just a lot more hygiene consciousness.

I wonder if cpap.com will stop selling the Lumin UV sanitizer and the Lumin Cleaner + Bullet that cleans with UV?

My mind set is best summed up as 'Why bother being cynical when that never does any real good anyway.'

Can't remember from whom I stole that line, but it immediately became my life motto.

This type of unit produces no poisonous gas, so it's a different thing entirely.
Some UV units are indeed objects of scammery.
Hopefully, the cream will rise to the top--rather than the scum.

When I got my first machine I was told to wash my mask and hose every day. I never washed my hose because it just didn't make sense to me. I seldom cleaned my mask. My coworkers husband cleaned his every day but to me it seemed more unsanitary to do a daily wash.

Indeed.
Kitchen sink is a better choice than in the bathroom.
Neither is ideal.
I like baby wipes--what they can't reach, doesn't need cleaning.

More danger of mold growing in wet hose than dry.

Big reason NOT to wash the hose!

Unless you live in New Guinea The hose isn’t going to mold overnight
