Drooling...any suggestions?
I am super new to apap, it’s been one week so far! Ive worn my mask every night and I am still adjusting of course but one thing I have notice is that I tend to drool inside of my full face mask. It gets so bad that the drool leaks into the tube and messes up the seal, so I have to take my mask off in the middle of the night and wait for it dry. I was wondering if it was an issue that clears itself up eventually, or if there was a way to prevent it. Was thinking about switching to a nose mask and a chin strap, are those effective for drooling? Any input is appreciated, thanks!

Is your mouth dropping open? What humidity settings are you using?
I drool quite a bit when my mouth drops open, the fix that works for me is a soft cervical collar or mouth taping, or both.

What "seal"?Shredhead1104 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 8:49 pmIt gets so bad that the drool leaks into the tube and messes up the seal
Practice keeping the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth. Hold it there while waiting to fall asleep. Anytime you awake during the night, practice again while falling to sleep.
Re: Drooling...any suggestions?
Drooling happens when your saliva (which your mouth and teeth need) slides out of the open mouth.
You can't or don't want to inhibit saliva production. What you have to do to keep it inside the mouth is not open the mouth and that's easier said than done.
Especially when one needs a full face mask because their nose gets congestion and they have to mouth breathe.
Some people put a small absorbent kind of product inside the mask to absorb the drool.
Mask liner might also help absorb the moisture and make it less annoying.

Mask liners may be what you need, check out padacheek.com. You might end up having to wash them frequently though.Shredhead1104 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 8:49 pmI am super new to apap, it’s been one week so far! That's what I would be trying first if it were me in this situation with a full face mask.palerider wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2020 5:39 pmMask liners may be what you need, check out padacheek.com. And for sure one of Karen's at padacheek.com because it is much more absorbent than the REMZZZ liners....and in the long run much less costly.

I see you got the new F30i, but you may also wanna try the AirTouch F20. Memory foam may help

I was blaming drool too until I tried a nasal mask. It got wet inside the nasal mask. Turns out it was rain out. As I live in Arizona where its warm I turned off the auto climate, shut off the hose heat, lowered the humidity to 1 and my issues went away.

Thank you all! Dialed back on the humidity which helped a little bit, also have been working on keeping my mouth closed at night. I tried the air touch F20, and while it felt comfortable I could not stop it from leaking. Kinda disappointing
Anyway, last night was the 3 week mark and today my energy levels were actually pretty stable, which was huge for me. I’m starting to realize this is a gradual process, and being persistent is key. Can’t wait till I can’t get through one whole night with no wake ups!

+1 You are approaching it with the right attitude. It's a DIY problem-solving process. Of course, you have a big support group here.Shredhead1104 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 9:24 pmAnyway, last night was the 3 week mark and today my energy levels were actually pretty stable, which was huge for me. A good many of us wear foam cervical collars to prevent jaw drop. If you are interested in details, just ask.Shredhead1104 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 9:24 pmalso have been working on keeping my mouth closed at night.
That's an unrealistic goal. A few wakeups are normal for humans as long as you fall back to sleep in a short amount of time.Shredhead1104 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 9:24 pmCan’t wait till I can’t get through one whole night with no wake ups!
