If you stop mouthbreathing, by using tape or a FF Mask, The HH Tank will magically grow bigger. Running low on water is a sign of mouthleaking when using a nasal mask. Jim

Thanks Goofproof
I have been taping my mouth .I dont usually use the HH when using a nasal mask or pillows . But when I use the new F&P 432 FF mask water runs low and last night I used the Hybrid for the first time and the water also was very low this morning . Im not sure but I think I read somewhere on this forum that the 420e HH tank is a lot smaller than others
Also Goof do ya know much about the Hybrid mask ,it seems to have a lot of exhaust ,do I need to adjust the pressure when using it
Thanks jacko

Jacko, Devilbiss makes a very large heated humidifier. It also has a very large surface area and you can check it out at CPAP.COM at this link;

You shouldn't have to change the pressure but I know the Hybrid wouldn't work for me. It has a very high leak rate (vent). Any time my leak rate goes over 35, my AHI goes up. On a very good night the ComfortGel runs 31.5, sometimes up to 40, past 40 I'm in trouble, it shows as a very bad night. As long as you don't run out of water, you don't have a problem. There's a separate HH that lot's of people like. Humidaire H3i Heated Humidifier, but it's Resmed so it's doubled priced. Jim

H3i design

With all due respect, resMed's H3i humidifier will ONLY work with a matching ResMed S8 machine. It draws its power from the S8 flow-generator.

Jim-

Did you mean F&P 150? That's the separate HH that most people who use really like. Rested Gal used one for years with various machine & I used one for 3 years, until I recently switched machines to a VPAP Adapt with integrated HH. I'm glad I still have the F&P, because on its highest setting, my ResMed HH (2i) is only equal to the F&P set at 3 out 5. I've reverted back to the F&P a few nights, especially when I figured out the first ResMed HH wasn't working properly (heat up, just not very much).

I agree with Goofproof, you must have excessive leaks to go through that much water. I didn't have a good experience with the Hybrid, it leaked like a sieve on me and then had a high exhaust rate. I guess that may be why that interface has become the most highly traded used mask to visit this board.

If you are not where it gets cold and can get by with a passover, the Respironics passover only style humidifiers deliver a lot of moisture and hold a lot of water, they are cheap compared to heated ones, you can put it-inline with your existing humidifier, but with that much humidification you may have to put a sprinkler on the end of the hose instead of the mask

I got them cornfused, I meant the one Rested Girl had used there seemed to be a lot of praise for it. The F & P 150, it looks to be a much better vaule. I think if I didn't have the Remstar, it would be the one I wanted. Jim

I recently got the HC150. I got it to try out the ambient tracking feature. I only have the H3i to compare it to. The HC150 definitely puts out more humidity than the H3i and I notice I have to turn the heat level way down. I never had rainout problems with H3i even at full heat ... but the HC150 started to produce rainout condensation at half-way heat setting (using Breeze).

I also notice that FF masks use twice as much water as nasal pillow type interfaces ... w/FF, I use up a little over 3/4 of HC150 (on half heat setting) reservoir water over 8 hour period (same as H3i on full heat setting). I would think that HC150 to be a great HH in arid environments.

The Devilbiss also appears that it has a good design with the large surface area and should theoretically produce plenty of humidity. Perhaps someday I will cash in on one on EBay or Yahoo Auctions.

BTW - I think there is currently an HC150 on Yahoo Auctions for less than half price of new one on CPAP.com
