Orange stuff in hose and mouth after use
Orange stuff in hose and mouth after use
I have been using a CPAP for years and after purchasing the Soclean2 a little over a year ago I am noticing orange sticky stuff building up in the mask and hose. Not as much as i can tell in the heated hose but in the clear hose of the mask. It is a greasy looking buildup and is very hard to clean out of the hose. Dont see any in the tank. I have been noticing each morning after use of the CPAP that my tongue is coated with something orange that washing out wont get rid of easy. I didnt clean my machine much at first but now clean it about every month or so. I have no clue why this just started after purchasing the So Clean and why it seems to be pushing this stuff in my mouth and nose each night. Everything looks clean in the tank but it still happens each night. Any ideas what is causing this and how to stop it and what could be causing it? I also use only distilled water and try to keep the filter and area around the machine air in take clean.

The SoClean machine would be my first suspect. I suspect the ozone poisonous gas is doing something to the silicone and plastic in the hose.

The consensus is that it's from the So-Clean.
Wash out the deposit thoroughly, and stop using the So-Clean. Hopefully, the deposits will not recur, and that will prove that So-clean is the culprit.

True.
There is lots more ignorance in the world.
It's still a bad thing.

Re: Orange stuff in hose and mouth after use
Really the only ignorance here is the comments that have nothing to do with the question of the post. Really, is that all some of you losers here have to do is post stupid comments on others post when you really have no clue what you are talking about to start with? WOW! I had no clue you were more of an expert of my business than I am. lol

Hyco, just put those that post the BS you mention on your ignore button. In your settings. That is what I do. Got tired of them bullying everyone new that comes here.
Since this started with, or you suspect it might have, the So-Clean machine I would discontinue use of it for a while. That may or may not help as the problem with ozone ( the active "ingredient" in So Clean operation ) can break down plastic and rubber. Might be that the effect will stick around until you replace the hose/mask even after you stop using the cleaner.

Re: Orange stuff in hose and mouth after use
Yes i just talked with Soclean and they are sending some of their cleaner to try but don't think that will help. I have stopped using the Soclean and see what happens and going to replace the hose and mask. It is concerning since I am having sinus and breathing problems at times now but not sure it is related. The CPAP causes a lot of sinus problems anyway but this is a little concerning. Soclean did say they have an issue with the Resmed Airsince 10 unit but not the S9 Escape that I have. They did say that thay have a warranty on the Socklean that will replace my CPAP if the Soclean damages it by using this. It is good for 2 years so Im within that right now. Very strange. They said they have not seen this at all or heard of it happening before. My CPAP has been discontinued so wonder if there was an issue with that one from the start.
