Extend your cpap warranty using your credit card

Post by TonyG » Mon Jan 27, 2020 10:25 am

I was just wondering if anyone had ever tried or has enquired about using your credit card to extend the warranty on your machines. I was looking at my Costco Mastercard warranty coverage details and there is nothing in there that I can see that would exclude them. In Canada the Resmed warranty is 3 years and it would appear one could get a full 5 year coverage based on the additional 2 years the credit card would provide. Curious to know if anyone had tried that process with any credit card. It was not something that I had given any thought to in the past.

I had a purchased new machine fail after initial warranty expired - successfully used my credit card extended warranty, they ended up refunding the purchase price and I bought a replacement for it.

In General extended warranties, are a poor choice or a outright scam, use your money to get a second lightly used machine or new spare. Buying anything on time or renting is also a way to spend more of what you are short of MONEY! Jim

This wasn't about buying an extended warranty. It referred explicitly to using your credit card as a means to extend the existing warranty.

I have never had occasion to try to take advantage of my MasterCard's extended warranty protection.

But you may want to double check your ResMed warranty period. ResMed's advertised device warranty period is 2 years, as is mine (Ontario).

We get 3 years here. Same applied to the previous Respironics I owned. Don't know why but it is what it is.

Over-using the "extended warranty" feature of your credit card might eventually cost you.
The bean counters could mark your account as "high risk".

They took mine away, because my acct was charged with false use twice, I think the drone and fur coat broke them, however it may be due to the fact I used it a lot online and they only made two dollars in interest in 14 years.

I used to get at least four new card offers a week in the mail, I haven't had a new card offer in two years, I think they put me on a No Card Fly List, now if we could do the same for telemarketers! I never got the Drone, too bad! Jim
