Increase in AHI
Re: Increase in AHI
I am going to try the increase in pressure
I Will give that a few days and see if there is any change
Happy to post the finding if anyone is interested
If not - hopefully things will improve
Any problems I will post again
I do appreciate all the comments - and support
Health service wise - the UK is not that bad - but tend to not provide as much support that could be seen as idea - mainly because they have too many patients and not enough people or money - the device provided is free as part of the health service and replacement masks etc are also free - so no complaints from me
I just want to feel in control and to ensure I get the best out of the device - I was so tired i couldn’t function at times - and I know I was falling asleep driving
This has given me a new lease of life and I feel so much more energetic
I just worry when I have these spikes as I don’t want to go back to feeling the same way
And don’t want to have an accident or kill someone or myself because I fell asleep at the wheel
The cpap has meant I keep my licence

Re: Increase in AHI
By all means please let us know what happens.
We do care and are interested.
There will be no more sniping in your thread here by anyone unless you want to snipe a bit.

I do have some ideas but need to see what happens first with the easy and simple fix....more pressure minimum.

Ok thank you
I will give it a few days and then upload some more charts - hopefully things will have improved

Re: Increase in AHI
Thank you for the insults. It's the same machine you have.
-- EDIT
Sorry no, not the same, I have the wrong link. I'll fix that.
Re: Increase in AHI
Evidently.almostaquack wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:51 amI hear a lot of people talk about changing minimum rates on auto machines on this board. Is there something I'm missing?
You need to "study" it more, since you've failed to understand anything significant.almostadquack wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:51 amI've studied ResMed "auto" algorithms and the minimum rate is meaningless
'rate' is an inappropriate term in this context. The maximum pressure is unimportant for most people, and should be left at 20.almostaquack wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:51 amas long as the maximum rate is within a therapeutic range.
You clearly don't understand how the Resmed Autoset algorithm works.almostaquack wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:51 amThis is because the "auto" function studies each cycle of the flow curve, and looks for apneic "mouse bites" in the top of the inspiration. Whenever it sees these, it raises the base pressure (notwithstanding the expiration relief) until the inspiration cycle is full.
The minimum has a *huge* effect on apnea events, as well as the OTHER aspects of SDB, which you seem to be totally ignorant of.almostaquack wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:51 amThus, the minimum rate you set shouldn't affect apnea events.
You're *completely* wrong, the "comfortable while falling asleep is RAMP, look it up, you might actually learn something.almostaquack wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:51 amI believe it is there specifically to establish a comfortable baseline while you fall asleep.
No, it never raises the base pressure.almostaquack wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:51 amAs soon as you fall asleep and your throat is likely to start obstructing, it raises the base pressure to one that prevents the airway obstruction.
Wrong. In fact, having too low a minimum pressure makes it very HARD to go to sleep, because they feel starved for air.almostaquack wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:51 amSo if you raise the minimum, all this will do is make it more difficult to fall asleep.
oy vey.almostaquack wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:51 amDoes anyone have any specific information to the contrary?

Re: Increase in AHI
You're hijacking it by spewing igorance.almostaquack wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 10:47 amI'm not "hijacking" this topic. It's completely on topic.
Once again, you're wrong, NOT adjusting the machine settings is what is harmful to people's health.almostaquack wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 10:47 amAnd to answer your question, I'm posting it because people on this topic are advocating tampering with machines in ways that can be harmful to people's health.

Either provide these alleged FDA rules, or shut up.almostaquack wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 10:57 amIf you keep advocating hacking machines in ways that may not be FDA approved, you could threaten people's health.
Better yet, just shut up.
You're threatening people with poorer health.almostaquack wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 10:57 amIf you want to throw me off this board, and think you can, go ahead. But I'm not the one threatening users, threatening health, and using profanity on this board. You are.

Re: Increase in AHI
Yes, please do come back and let us know how you're doing, and keep adjusting things till you're sleeping better. Not only will you keep your license, you'll feel better, and that's what we're all here for. (well, almost all of us).Jonty wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 2:45 pmI am going to try the increase in pressure

Re: Increase in AHI
For any further images...can you omit the snore graph and resize the other graphs? We can see the snores on the Events graph if it's big enough.
You need more minimum and maximum pressure.
