Re: New User / Questions / Titration Results
Prescriptions were sent this morning for:
AirSense 10 AutoSet with HumidAir Heated Humidifier
and
AirFit P10 Nasal Pillow Mask
My doctor told me that it won't work for me if I breathe through my mouth while sleeping. I knew that could end up being a problem but it's good to know that he has an understanding of how it all works. I'm hoping it turns out like was mentioned earlier, that it could be sleep apnea causing mouth breathing. I don't believe much of what the sleep center says. I know I didn't get 300.5 minutes of sleep, since I was still awake at 2am and they woke me up at 5:10. It also looks like it said there was a bunch of sleeping on my back, which I know isn't true. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long to get the equipment and see if it works.
Will I be able to tell on my own, as a first time user, if I need to replace the mask with a full face mask?

Not about cpap (sorry all), but it made me sad to see it... your 'given' name followed by that line as if you always(?) anticipate being wrong for some reason right off the bat...
I hope you think better of yourself than that.

Yes, you will be able to tell fairly easily if mouth breathing is having a negative impact on your sleep quality or your therapy.

Thanks for the concern, but don't worry, that's not a problem. The name is just a character from a TV show. And anticipating being wrong is from being used to seeing people being "forum police" in pretty much everything on the internet. Plus, there was just so much going on that day I didn't know if I had forgotten anything from the read before posting thread.Julie wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 10:50 pm"this is my first post. It's great your machine and mask will be arriving soon! When they do, try setting everything up during the day in a spot where you can sit and watch TV or read. This will help your body start getting used to the new sensations without your worrying about when, oh, when, you will ever fall asleep.

The main 'policing' that happens here is just to correct misinformation, especially stuff that would lead someone like you, who doesn't know any better, down the wrong path, wasting your time, or potentially decreasing the effectiveness of your therapy.UglyBob wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 8:47 amThanks for the concern, but don't worry, that's not a problem. It's taken almost exactly forever, but I finally got my machine and mask this afternoon. Hopefully I am one of the people that sees a difference quickly, but if not I'm sure it'll eventually work out.

Update your profile with which machine and mask you have it will make it easier for us to give advise

Re: New User / Questions / Titration Results
Last night was my first night using a machine, other than the titration test.
I had a hard time falling asleep. It doesn't really look like there is a way that I can control the strength of airflow while I'm still awake though, maybe I can call the number and the supplier can adjust that? Maybe I'll just get used to it after a while.
I don't want to say my nose hurt, but it was a little sore or something. That will probably just take some getting used to. It feels dry, but at the same time I've been having to blow it a lot today. It started feeling a little better after several hours.
The ResMed myAir app report seems very basic. I guess I expected a little more info.
Overall Score: 95/100
Usage Hours: 70/70
Good Mask Seal: 20/20
Events per Hour Score: 5/5 (5.0 events per hour) I had 28.0 events during my titration test.
Mask on/off Score: 0/5 (6 mask on/off)
Settings that might matter:
Ramp Time: Auto
Humidity Level: 4
I'm sure there's more I meant to say here, but it was a long day and nothing else is coming to mind right now.

Re: New User / Questions / Titration Results
Congratulations on spending your first night with the machine! Your body and mind will be adapting to this new experience, and you can do some things to accelerate the process.
The very first thing is to download the Oscar software. You will find it here:
https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/
You will need a laptop or desktop to use it. You will also need to import data from an SD card in your machine? Is there one there already? If not, get one. Also, if your computer doesn’t have an SD slot, pick up an SD card reader.
If you will post a screenshot of a daily chart, the experts here can advise you about your settings. Those could use some fine-tuning to get your AHI down. There’s information about arranging your chart and doing the screenshot here:
http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.ph ... ganization
Let us know if you have any trouble with any of this. And I hope you get some good rest on night number two.

Re: New User / Questions / Titration Results
Use OSCAR and learn how to adjust the machine yourself to achieve optimal therapy. The DME will just consider you an aggravation if you ask them to change the pressure.
Have you watched a few videos to learn how to fit and adjust the mask? https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... +CPAP+Mask
This setting might be too high. A high humidity setting causes nasal congestion in some people. It's OK to experiment with different settings.
Re: New User / Questions / Titration Results
The humidity setting of 4 is about a middle of the road setting on the new AirSense 10 machines. It will go to 8.
You might need less humidity or you might need more humidity.
Too little or too much humidity can cause changes in the nasal mucosa that result in congestion and/or allergy like symptoms.
Everyone's needs are different so this is something you have to sort out as to what your needs might be.

Re: New User / Questions / Titration Results
OK. I found an SD card and an SD reader. I guess the SD card had to be in the machine while I was using it to get real data? I only got a summary, so at this point it's not worth taking a screenshot. I arranged the first part, with the calendar like the page you linked, but the other charts mentioned on that page aren't there so I can't arrange them yet. Hopefully tomorrow. Thanks.Miss Emerita wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 10:57 pmCongratulations on spending your first night with the machine!
