Leakage with Remzzz...

Post by joeljjk11 » Fri Dec 13, 2019 2:32 pm

How do I prevent this with a FFM? I have the Airfit F20 that I want to use but it seems like I get insane amounts of leakage with Remzzz, am I doing something wrong? I am trying to not get squeaking noises in the middle of the night which wake me up. I stretch them alot like you are supposed to after applying but I always get tons of leaking, it happened a while back with the Simplus FFM also that I used to use. Could it be because I have a beard?

Facial hair simply messes with any seal.
So yep...it very well could be the facial hair.

Instead of Rem-zzzz's, try a mask liner from PadaCheek.com.
Washable and reusable, they are thick enough to muffle the squeaks.

remzzz are a ripoff, try the mask liner from padacheek... they're less hassle, and made to be washed and re-used, so they're cheaper.

For me, it was the beard. After three different masks, finally tried the p10. Just less there to make a seal.

Solved mouth breathing by using hair bands.

Worked for me.

You could try the air touch. Looked promising when I watched this video.

I actually tried the Airtouch F20 a while back and it was great for a few days but then would leak at the top of my nose into my eyes. Not sure why, this seemed to happen consistently. I think the batch of cushions that I ordered were bad or something cause they would all leak after like a week. I may try it again though cause it was very comfortable until I got leakage.

Have you posted elsewhere how you used those hair bands?

yes.

it's a modification of what forum member jay aitchsee posted a very long time ago-

paptalk.com/viewtopic/p1089718/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=112758&p=1086133&hilit=+waveforms#p1086296

i've been using it for years and yap about it at the drop of a hat. it is directly responsible for dropping my ahi by at least one point and prolly more. it's cheap and effective.

to elaborate, the hairbands press my lips against my teeth. used in conjunction with a firm foam cervical collar(or,i imagine, your brandy keg under the chin rig) it helps keep me from mouth breathing.

but see the link above as to how it works.

Thank you. My brandy keg works fine for me. It's my husband, new to the AutoCPAP, who is driving me nuts. If he uses a full-face mask, he's fine. But he does not like the multiplicity of straps involved with full face masks. Don't blame him at all for that. Yet when he uses a non-full-face mask like the tap pap. he bubbles and buzzes and keeps me awake all night.

Not to mention the fact that I do not agree with his pulmonologist that an AHI of 7 shows good control of his apnea. (His sleep study had his AHI at 51.)

you're welcome. please let me know if it works for him.

i used the tap pap once. didn't like it at all. but i'm curious if the scunci rig would work with that.

I like the tap pap very much... at home. I may have to dig out one of my old Headrest masks for traveling in the RV. The bed set-up doesn't let me shift my hose hanger to the head of the bed, andas a consequence, the hose twists the mask in my mouth and I wake up with sore teeth. At home, it works perfectly.

When my husband had his sleep study, I happened to have an extra Tap Pap and fit it to him, figuring that if, as I suspected, he did have sleep apnea, they would do a split study. We did. He popped the mask in, they hooked him up and he conked out again.

He likes the Tap Pap. I'm the one who wants him on another mask because when his leak rate from the bubbling and all is through the roof, I know he is not getting good therapy. Not to mention, he keeps waking ME up.

I've got the Scunci... now to convince him to try them.

i think i'm not a fan because my upper and lower jaws aren't aligned well. so the whole furshlugginer thing would bob up and down in my mouth.

anyway, just proof of what i like to say; what works for me may not work for thee. and the other way about.
