Recommend FFM

Post by Ograx » Wed Dec 18, 2019 10:44 am

So I’ve been thinking I am going to try a full face mask instead of constantly taping and dealing with mouth leaks I can’t seem to ever get a handle on.

The leaks aren’t horrible but I am concerned about how dry my mouth is constantly getting which definitely isn’t good for my oral/teeth health.

What do you guys recommend for a full face mask with the only restriction being that it can’t sit in bridge of nose?

I think you only have 2 options. The Respironics Dreamwear and the Resmed F30, there may be another hybrid with nasal pillows and mouth but I'm not 100% sure about it.

I have tried both, currently using the F30 but have only been on therapy a short time. My impression is I like the Dreamwear better for ergonomics but the F30 seals better for me. The Dreamwear seemed to be OK at lower (10-13) pressures but started developing leaks at higher pressure. The F30 is keeping a better seal all night so far. I am planning on retrying the Dreamwear again when I have a few days off from work just to see if having a little more experience makes a difference.

Your choices are limited with the "can't touch the bridge of the nose restriction" for a full face mask.

DreamWear Full Face mask from Respironics or the Amara View but the DreamWear is just a new improved Amara IMO.

ResMed F30 newer model or ResMed's hybrid the Liberty (old school model been around for many years).

RespCare/Innomed Hybrid which is very similar to the Liberty and again been around a long time.

The 2 newer models....the F30 or DreamWear are probably better choices IMO.
Smaller footprint on the face and softer more flexible silicone and frame.

Whichever one fits you... there are a number of masks that fit that criteria now.

I found that Resmed F30 was the best Full Face mask for me. Best seal. No need for liners. With other FF models, I had to wear liners to stop the weird noises & leaks.

I’m a total newb but I can definitely vouch for the ergonomic/mobility factor of the dreamwear ffm. I move a lot in my sleep and it’s stayed on great in all positions (sometimes I do have to make minor adjustments). I also successfully slept on my stomach one night!

I’ve actually just ordered the Dreamwear based on you guys and some other reviews I’ve read. Seems to be the best bet to start with. It’s covered by my insurance which buys new mask every 6 months so worst case scenario I’ll just try diff one in 6 months.

Thanks everyone
