AHI on bipap does show if the machine was causing centrals, yes?

No.
It may show centrals, but you can't infer the machine caused them.

I found this answer for you:

If your AHI is tenish with the CPAP, it might be fiftyish without! While ten is too high, even higher is even worse!

Maybe my comprehension is really terrible

What I am saying is, I was told by a technician that machines can actually worsen a person who stops breathing with central or complex apnea. My question is how could a person know if this is happening to them

Raticate, people would like to help you, but your three recent threads don't provide the kind of background or data that would give us enough to go on. Could you stay in this thread and provide information about your sleep study and your current machine? And could you download Oscar:

https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/

and post a chart or two?

To your question here: did your sleep study show you have complex sleep apnea? If so, you will probably need a specialized machine. We can offer more thoughts about your situation if you can provide more information.
Oscar software is available at https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/

i was all set to suggest your technician was an idiot, but then I saw what machine you have listed in your profile.
He may or may not know and neither will you. I suspect your machine is somewhat short on technical capabilities.

Folks....I think there is some chain yanking going on but I can't prove it.
Note the equipment shown in OP profile...machine and humidifier don't match.
Stuff just doesn't add up.

Has HDM, Apex and Philips Respironics joined forces to come up with a Z2 travel BiPAP machine? Asking for a friend
