just using what they gave me. I want to see how I can tolerate the cpap before I spend 100s on a new one. current is fully covered by insurance.
gonna try with earplugs and lowered humidifier settings tonight. was waking up drooling last night. will post full night data if I make it through. 8)

Gotcha.

Is drooling fundamentally caused by humidity settings? Seems the more fundamental problem is you're opening your mouth while asleep?

Would help to fill in your profile with the equipment info, including your mask.

Dear miner 49er,

I have UARS, and was having a very hard time sleeping with PAP alone.
I am now sleeping very well with a dental appliance along with low pressure APAP. I also do the tongue and throat exercises. I don't know which of the 3 is working the best, most likely the appliance, but I get a good night's sleep.

Good to hear you solved it. I'm slacking on the exercises atm but i do think they help a lot.

Yea most likely that is the issue. My nose gets progressively more blocked as I sleep and I think I open my mouth. I am looking into getting a full face mask, but apparently I need a different prescription (wtf!?)
The people I am dealing with for the equipment are definitely not helpful and kind of abrasive. They want me to go back to their facility to try on the mask and based on previous visit i don't think they would have a broad selection. Did you buy your mask through a DME? If I get my prescription I can just go to the nearest CPAP store and buy a mask, correct? Would insurance cover any mask from any store or only the one that I get through the suppliers they went to originally?

How long have you used the appliance for and have you noticed any changes in bite or pain in general?

You will have to check with your insurance company. Policies vary. Some require you use a provider that is in their network.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the tips so far. I'm gonna share the one night that I managed to get asleep on cpap so far.

I was only asleep from 2:30 to around 5 but I cant figure how how to get the events flag to zoom in.
In general to me it looks like the machine got me breathing steadily at around 5 pressure, then it starts to gradually decline. leading to an event. is the machine stupid?

I also read that Flow Rate is the graph to look at for UARS. I attached two places where my flow rate looks really messed up but nothing was flagged. could this possibly be nasal congestion?

Overall I didn't have a pounding headache in the morning so that might be a sign that it worked.

Maybe theres nothing to analyze here at all. Hopefully I'll have a full night soon.

To evaluate the flow graph for UARS, you want to identify periods when you are clearly asleep, and where the breathing looks pretty regular.
